Taking a rucksack/tent on a plane...?

I'm going to Mighty Sounds fest in the Czech Republic on Wednesday and I haven't really realised, up until now, taking a rucksack on a plane might be a problem?

I have an 80 litre rucksack which will have a tent attached to the bottom and a roll mat on the side. Will this be OK for the hold or will they make me check the attached equipment separately?

Cheers in advance.

I'd think it probably depends on the Airline. In the past, we have been able to check in a tent with two sleeping bags tied to it as one item. I can't remember which Airline that was with, but I'm pretty certain it wasn't Ryanair .... If I were you, I'd find one of those baggage wrapping machines they have in airports and wrap all your stuff into one package - that way they can't quibble at check in ;)
