Carling - What actually happened?

True about the cigaretters, bought 100g's of gv last year because it's possibly the greatest smoke I've encountered and it's lovely to roll. And I don't plan on paying extortionate amounts for 20 straights from a stall, especially when I find them harsh in comparison.

Though I did buy 20 l&b for £4 off some bloke selling them tent to tent, just for ease.

Red Stripe use to be really involved with music. They use to sponsor The Camden Crawl, Wireless and I remember going to the old Astoria and they would just hand you over a can which is the only decent sized venue that would give you a can with no cup, I think I might of had my first Red Stripe at The Astoria.

To be fair the cigarettes at the stalls have never been particularly expensive, I remember in 2009 Marlboro's were two packs for a tenner in those fancy metal cases. I don't know what L&B were charging last year.

Carling sold on their rights to O2 at their Academy's around the same time so probably decided that music sponsorship wasn't working for them.

If they changed the beer, it would still sell the same amount. If there is only one option then people will go for it.

Personally, I much prefer Tuborg to Carling. At least it's not Tennant's!

& I can't imagine the option of selling cans would be a good idea at Reading what with the history of bands getting bottled.

I went to Soni last week and I was shocked to get a pack of cigs & a free lighter for £5, they were Chesterfields basically the same as Marlboro and I think it was marketing plot.

Yep, at pretty much every good dubstep night I've been to and quite a few venues you can buy cans of red stripe, it's a proper beer for music.

"Crunk juice" is about 12% from what I've heard your cousin is a massive lightweight or talking total bollocks.

Get a few bottles of buckfast, it's got more alcohol and more caffiene. Win win.

It's not necceasarily about price for smokes but they didn't seem to sell bacci when I glanced over. And I prefer bacci.

Rock City in Nottingham sell cans of Red Stripe as well (though they are really expensive), loads better than drinking the Carlsberg on tap!

And were you drinking the lager at Soni? It tasted particularly foul to me, not just because it was Tuborg, it just seemed to taste really weird (like diesel and washing up liquid)

Nah, that where you keep going wrong and thinking everything fits into a cliché sterotype. I saw more fists fights at 1 night of Arcade Fire the week before than I did the entire weekend at Soni.

I did hear sonisphere was pretty tame but bloody awesome music wise, off a few mates who went, camped in blue 2 which is supposedly close to the stages and that and they saw no trouble at all. No 12 year olds being idiots because mums gone.

Yeah I think Sonisphere may be on the cards next year for me, I'm not really into Metal but it has some Punk and stuff and some of the older and less "competition for how downtuned, distorted and ugly we can be" bands so I guess I'll be happy with that.
