mrtourette
1 WEEK TO GO What have we heard in the last week? Alternative stage completedReading site map Cold Cave pulled out of the dance tent line-up What are we waiting for? Compared to last year's line-up an open slot on main stage (MCR day) and two on the R1/NME stage (Jane's Addiction day and The Streets days)Lock Up stage special guestStage timesReplacements for Cold Cave and OFWGKTA What are the latest? The Cribs are still TBC at efests (despite drummer being out of action for six weeks)Apparent spaces on the main and R1/NME stages to be filled by longer set times or secret setsFrank Turner a shoe-in for the Lock Up special guestSet times to be added to the official site on Monday 22nd What's the ticket situation? Saturday and Sunday day tickets at Reading sold out, weekend tickets officially sold out but still available from stargreenAll Leeds tickets still available What about the weather? BBC Monday 22 August 2011 to Sunday 28 August 2011 Unremarkable August weather With westerly winds set to bring a regular suppy of weather fronts across the UK, we can all expect some rain at times. Typically the north and west of the British Isles will catch most of the rain, while the southeast is somewhat sunnier and warmer at times, especially during any brief ridges of high pressure. So not a complete wash-out, and this healthy mixture of sun and rain should keep harvesters and holidaymakers reasonably content. jump
Would the Lock Up special guest be announced though? Last year Gallows played under a different name and NoFX just played with no hint and the they have never waited this longer to announce someone before when the special guest place holder has been put on. therefused
i really cant imagine them adding any more bands to nme/main now. with the tickets still not sold out, i would imagine they would of added someone by now, the more days go by the later there leaving it to actually sell a few more tickets. perhaps the mainstage will start half an hour later on friday this year or something? or offspring/deftones get slightly longer sets (that woiuld be awesome). jump
Special Guest = we are waiting for contracts to be in right conditions to announce this act
Yellow_Fellow
No it doesn't, it's just a place holder with it almost certainly being Frankie Turner (he's already said it is him) what conditions of the contracts aren't right yet? jump
You seem to think Special Guest = Secret Set. it doesn't. Edited July 18, 2011 by jump
mrtourette
If it was anywhere else I'd assume some kind of hold-up like the band wanting to sell tickets for their own gig first, but as it's the lock-up and likely to be Frank Turner I guess it's just because of tradition that they're never announced. I think the only reason they've listed the special guest rather than just leaving an empty gap in the line-up for the purpose of trying to generate ticket sales. Of course this is all guesswork
ar1
Well we're getting near the time that we get the annual questions: 1. If I've still got last year's band on do I get a free case of bear? 2. Can I pay for early entry on the door 3. What "Zones" is it best to........

mrtourette
Updated, only additions are Little Roy and another optimistic weather forecast. Also Saturday tickets for Reading are available again (although it's more likely that I got it wrong last week).

Ashl
Appears The Coopers are also playing both Festivals(according to the Leeds site) on the Festival Republic Stage so if Our Fold are playing will it be 11:30 start on all 3 days? Bits of the BBC Introducing have been revealed... The five runners up to play the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds/Reading are Arthur Rigby and the Baskervylles, Castrovalva, The Simon Pollard Band, Circles and Heart-Ships.
