Buying drink from the supermarkets around Reading

Hi, is it possible to by Alcohol from the shops in the center of Reading or do they put the prices up to catch out festival goers.

There are two big Tesco's within 20 mins walk and if anything the deals are better than the other times of the year. The other independent shops probably do the same.

Anyone else remember the blokes who used to park a truck outside of the Rivermead and sell slabs off the back

There are plenty of people who set up stalls along the road and do that.

The stalls on Richfield Avenue are more convenient, but also more expensive. What we've tended to do is set up camp Thurs morning then wander into town for a pub lunch, couple of pints then grab our beer from Sainsburys (there are two in the town centre) and get a cab back up. Beer prices normal if not better during the festival
