Camping spots

Arrive early on thursday and you'll be fine. I got there at about 11am on thursday last year and only just managed to grab a spot in green, right up next to the trees and the river opposite yellow. Turned out to be a brilliant spot actually. But yeah just aim to arrive at like 8-9 in the morning and there will be loads of spare places.

You pick your campsite when you get there. As to which is best, many people will give you many different answers. Green tends to fill up the quickest as it's closest to the arena, and white is a quiet family camping zone across the bridge, but other than that they are all pretty similar. If you google Reading Festival Site Map that should give you a good idea of the different campsites.

You just rock up and grab a spot. There's lots of threads about which are best but generally the nearer you are to the arena the busier they get and the more "Rowdy" they are.

I always use which is (litterally) about a mile away from the arena but is near the car park and doesn't seem to suffer from theiving and other nonsense as much as others.

Further from arena, less rowdy. Camp where you like.

Don't camp near a wall or bush because you'll likely end up in a river of piss. And near a road you're more likely to come back and be missing stuff, camp chairs yo.

Oh and near toilets, just, no. No, the smell is stomach churning at the best of times. I threw up on the shitter first year it got so bad, wouldn't wanna live near it.

We camp in red, near the wall with good landmarks for drunkenly finding the tents (as if the 3 gazebos aren't enough) raised ground. Everyone in our group knows where to find the collective (and theres a lot of us).

Not too far from the arena, good party vibe but red isn't full of 14 year olds who've had half a can of strongbow and think they're gods gift.
