fredthefish
Hey, I've got a Sunday ticket for Reading festival. I'm heading down with minimal stuff, just a backpack, the idea being: see bands, enjoy Muse headlining, then dance all night in the dance field or (last resort) spend my time at the silent disco, then catch the first train home the next morning, so as to avoid having to take a tent and sleeping bag for just one night. It is becoming increasingly obvious that I've got entirely the wrong end of the stick here - please can someone confirm what people are telling me, in that: 1) With a day ticket, camping in the evening is not included, even if I had wanted to take camping stuff? 2) Unlike other festivals there is unlikely to be anything going on until the early hours of the morning - even silent disco doesn't last all night (if so, when is the cutoff point for this?) 3) in fact, with a day ticket, you have to be OFF THE SITE by 11:30pm... and can't even gain entry to the silent disco If my entire Reading plan has now been trashed, I'd be very grateful for suggestions as to how to make this situation better, like... likelihood that I'll be able to get into the camping area anyway, to meet up with friends there, etc. Anything to avoid sitting on my hands on a park bench for 7 hours...! Cheers. Edited August 27, 2011 by fredthefish
Hart Attack
The arena is inside the camping area - they're not two separate sites. It would be impossible for them to check every single person to make sure they're not staying in the campsite longer than they're supposed to, so in theory you should be fine. I was actually there on Friday and didn't leave until about 3:30 to get the first train, without any problems. They won't let you take camping stuff in though with just a day ticket. As for the silent disco and other late-night entertainment... I've never been to any of it myself, so I don't know. Vacant0
Dance field? What dance field? There is f**k all going on after the bands and you are not allowed to camp - that does not mean that there is much stopping you from actually doing so though.
