Reading Local
More a word of warning for any people at Leeds already or going for the day...but Jane's Addiction cancelled their headline show at the very last minute tonight after doing all the stage set-up & soundchecking...this apparently was due to Perry having a severely swollen throat - 'Jane's Addiction regretfully had to cancel their scheduled headline performance on the NME /Radio 1 stage at this year's Reading Festival as singer Perry Farrell was unable to perform due to the severe swollen condition of his throat. Although Farrell was treated earlier in the day by top local London physicians and had his heart set on trying to perform under any circumstance, in the end he was completely unable to produce any sound vocally. Jane's Addiction would like to deeply apologize to the fans for any inconvenience. Farrell's condition remains day to day'
Hart Attack
Damn, that really sucks - must have left a lot of people very disappointed. Good thing I didn't end up going today, as they were one of only two bands I really wanted to see (the other being Jimmy Eat World). Did they get a replacement or anything, or did they just have nothing happen at all? It would have been cool if JEW or someone else that played earlier in the day had filled in for them... 5co77ie
It really sucked, what sucked even more is that Perry and the band did a singing session for NME video journos only an hour or so before. They have the footage - he could sing then!

Reading Local
I was gutted to miss Crystal Castles to watch the amazing Pulp...& got to the tent to see Dave telling the crowd about it being cancelled..at the time they were supposed to go on...the stage was set up and soundchecked & everything!!! surely they would have known a good 1-2 hrs before if he wasn't up for it & could have maybe given CC the headline slot as looks as tho it went off big time during their show from the footage am watching on the bbc website...altho thought the strokes were class as well esp getting Jarvis onstage to do a Cars Cover Nothing was in instead of them so all the people there for Jane's had to go & watch / do something else...there was a lot of boo-ing & a lot of unhappy people..JEW were still on site apparently as they took photos of Mighty Mighty Bosstones & posted on their twitter/facebook so I think a lot of bands were still around & don't travel upto Leeds until during the night or first thing this morning......something could have easily been sorted out
Azzy G
So glad I didn't go this year, one of the very few bands that tempted me
she bangs the drums
Gutted, was really looking forward to them tonight, hope they don't move up Glassjaw to clash with the Strokes now. Guess I will have to give Pulp a go.

Ed209
Whilst it was a shite situation, it's not as easy as "something could have been sorted out", unless your the kind of act that loves festivals (i.e. Frank Turner), bands arn't going to play a second set unless they're getting paid for it. Dan R
What happened at Leeds then? did crystal castles get bumped up to headline the tent or was there just no-one on?
only_jay
There was pretty much no one on glassjaw + crystal castles just went on 10 mins later than scheduled

kaosmark2
I would have loved Crystal Castles to do an extended set at Reading. I was gutted they clashed with Pulp. If I weren't going to Bestival then I'd probably have gone for them. Glad I didn't though, even though they're cracking live. Pulp were just great. Joshuwarr
I worked the festival and spoke to a woman who had said she waited over 20 years to see them. Her 9 year old daughter was also distraught and the woman nearly burst into tears before me. Felt so bad for her
she bangs the drums
Me and my mate bought a ticket basically to see Janes Addictiom, there was lots of other bands we wanted to watch but had seen many times, they were one of the few bands that were not re-cycled, I was/still am gutted, I ended up having to watch Pulp who sounded good but are just not my thing. jump
Would of liked to have seen them but they clashed with Bosstones so made no difference to me. Apparently they are still playing Koko in Camden tonight.
glasto-worker
Dont have a clue who the band is but two of my Team went down to see them amd they got as close as this when they were informed the gig was not taking place. Not sure where they went - all I know is they must have hung about as they did not appear until later.
gooner1990
Was pretty annoyed as I had looked forward to seeing them - oh well - meant I got to skank about to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones instead.
Poppington
A couple of my friends were absolutely devastated they cancelled, i was gonna see them but was ten minutes late after shooting up there from Pulp on the main stage. I went and watched The Strokes instead. Does anyone know if they are playing Koko tonight???

jump
they need to play the festival next year to make up for it. playing a few gigs here wont make up for it,they probably would have played a few gigs here after the album release anyway. unless they do some sort of free gig, something like if you are following them on facebook or twitter and still have your reading/leeds wristband you get free entry.
