Will Reading ever get "Heavy Sunday" again?

There wasn't a heavy Sunday for 2009 but a more Indie-oriented day, this reverted in 2010, then this year it was the Indie day. Do people think there will be one next year? Or do people think 2010 was a one-off, that heavy Sunday was a thing of the noughties and that it's now been scrapped?

FR in recent years seem to have made Friday Reading the heavy day, but depending on who they book to headline I don't know if there will be a heavy Sunday next year. Like people have said, Reading and Leeds face competition from Download and now Sonisphere for heavy bands so I think we were lucky last year to have two heavy days.

I'd live with there not being a heavy Sunday if the three headliners were something as great as Foo Fighters, Kasabian and R.E.M.

What do people think?

I dont think its going to happen again, and I honestly think we will see a big shift in the line up next year.

for the last 4 or 5 years the festival has slowly moved away from its "hard rock" routes and I think next year will be all about the mainstream acts that cater for the 16-20 crowd.

IMO the best reading line-ups have had a 'heavier day' with credible heavier acts likes the foos, pumpkins, ratm, pearl jam, green day, gnr, metallica etc. and/or a few crossover acts like muse, the prodigy, placebo, pendulum with support from newer heavier bands. This attracted people like me who generally prefer Indy but like a bit of the heavier stuff - I can't get the first half of those at say Glastonbury and would never go to a purely heavy music festival so for me it was a usp.

If there was a slightly heavier day this year it was friday but I don't think my chemical romance had the same appeal as the headliners i listed (and beady eye wasn't a strong enough alternative). I hope they come back with a strong heavier day, sunday or otherwise, next year...
