The "get me, I've already got my tickets for next year" thread

After the lacklustre ticket sales this year and average headliners (my opinion), I was kind of hoping they might freeze prices next year - especially as an increase would take them over the psychological £200 barrier (before booking fees).

But who am I kidding? This is Festival Republic we're talking about.

In any case, no, I'm not buying them. It's too far ahead for me to know what I'll be doing next year, and I don't want to be stuck with a ticket if resale prices crash like they did this year.

Whilst I think that here is a strong possibility of weak sales again next year, on balance it's more important to me to secure a ticket than the possibility of saving 50 quid on the price nearer the time.

I think that next year will be a weird one to predict. No Glastonbury, but then we know that many of those wouldn't be seen dead at Reading anyway (thankfully). The Olympics, could divert a lot of money away, but then again many people budgeted for Olympic tickets they didn't get. And then the Olmpics themselves - if GB do well then there could be a boost from the euphoria, but if they do badly then there could be a boost from people wanting to forget! Lastly, as we all know (!), next year will be the last Reading ever before the end of the world. I want to go out with a bang.

I honestly doubt that, are Foo Fighters different to Muse in popularity? Both bands have played every festival in the world so just can't see them selling out a festival at £200+ ?

I think it will take 3 headliners of the status of Metallica, Rage and Killers in popularity and excitement to sell out the festival next year.

For me it would take something like AC/DC or Black Sabbath on the heavy night with say Foo Fighters headlining the one night and either the Killers or Kasabian on the shindie night for it to sell out next year with the current economic climate not going to get any better versus the cost of festivals and punters sick of re-cycled line ups.
