Who'd you catch on the Piano stage

My first time (since Reading '78), and thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. i was interested in how the Piano stage and how it would work, but in the end it was just too inconvenient to keep popping over to see a child playing the piano.

However we did catch the Leisure Society doing two tunes, the second being Me & Julio...and mighty fine they were. Looked like it was being professionally filmed as well.

I also thought we saw Tinariwen, but it turns out they were the musicians hired ny the Moorish food outlet!!!

I was very sad not to have seen anyone other than festival goers at the piano stage, murdering karaoke hits like honky tonk woman, as in previous years seeing bands so close up and pared down has been wonderful. I didnt hear any band hinting they were about to do a secret set there either.

My wife and I had a final stroll around the gardens on the Monday morning, the piano stage was in a bit of a state, a picture had been smashed, the piano was pulled halfway across the stage, one of the pictures had gone, and it was generally in a pretty bad state.

I do worry that increasing the capacity means you get a larger number of drunken w***kers (we noticed more this year) turning up who don't respect the festival's general ethos of being nice to each other and not acting like a twat.

Don't want this to sound like a rant though cos we had a great time again, and met a lot of really sound people.

Nobody, as always. Someone said on here before the festival that there is a chalkboard there saying who will be on - in four years I have never seen it. There were usually too many other sets going on for me to want to hang around in the woods on my own by the hour, just in case...

I can see the dilemma though - if these sets were announced (or publicised in a "please encourage this rumour" way) it would be like the so-called secret sets in the tipi, which used to be small and fun but are now wall-to-wall late night drunken fancy dress events for gangs of festy teens showing off to each other.

I saw that chalkboard last year all right, not this year. We actually spent a fair bit of time hanging out at the piano stage this year, and caught the Cornshed Sisters doing a lovely set. Also the ukulele meet up which we stayed for instead of going to Kurt Vile, I think, was just gorgeous. On Sunday, we were really enjoying 3 lads with 'Artist' wristbands - don't know who they were- playing some jazz piano, clarinet and trumpet, until the stage got grabbed by a poet with no manners.
