Been watching some videos, mainly Republican, but why are they allowed to get away with bending the truth so much and in some cases downright lying? If I had any sort of power in the US I'd be banging on the drum to ban this with severe penalties for breaking the rules.

I fell asleep around 4am for an hour and missed the declaration. They were saying an incerdible 83% turn out in some States and 32 million early voted - staggering figures - clearly Americans are more into their politics than I thought. Is advertising the only way to engage the populace?

Democrats had a great day in the senate elections as well. I personally felt Romney fought pretty well, certainly better than Kerry in 2004. However it cant be easy to get elected representing a party where the mad men on the right wing of the party have so much influence.

Obama is the best of a bad bunch. To be fair, if Romney wasn't in bed with nutjobs like Paul Ryan, he may have been a decent president, and his concession speech was very gracious. But Iran is now less likely to be bombed by the US, and any result which annoys the Israeli hard right nutters is a good thing.
