Placebo are very hit and miss, for them to go down well at Download it would have to be a hits setlist and not fuck about trying to play different versions of their classics. Placebo at one point were a fucking amazing live act, but they just play too much shit live and cack versions of great songs. Last great time I saw them was probably 2001. The others times have just not lived up to past glory.

Their newer albums are ok but not very rock in the way their first two and to an extent third albums were.

They could get away with it as second stage headliners I reckon but if they're taking a slot on main they'd have to choose the setlist wisely otherwise they'll get a poor reaction and that will just ruin the day atmosphere wise

Completely agree - saw them a few years back and they only played one song from their debut - and that was a much slowed down version of Teenage Angst. Was gutted - no Nancy Boy, Bruise Pristine, .....
