jimbo4
What are the chances of stone roses playing next year
jump
None, they're at V & Phoenix next year and Glasto the following apparently. I'm surprised people care so much, the last show at Reading is one of the worse of all time.
eFestivals
zilch I believe, because sources have told efestivals that they'll be doing V. I can't guarantee that what we've heard is right, but we were also told from the same sources that they'd be recording new material too which has since been confirmed by the band, and as far as I'm aware we were the only place to report that prior to the press conference - so there's a very strong possibility that what we've been told is spot on. JWC126
I reckon if anything them being so bad at last Fest might make them wanna come back to redeem themselves. Next year looks set already, but maybe 2013?

VCK
Bear in mind that Ian Brown has played twice since Reading '96 and his voice has got even worse since then. Also bear in mind that this time they'll have Squire and Reni back in the band. I think FR would be stupid not to, at the very least, consider booking them. thetime
The way tickets have gone this morning, it would be more if roses want to play reading and not the other way around.

rexclark
Not accurate, the tour dates for Heaton park are 29th, 30th and 1st july. If it means them 3 then it's possible, I just have a hunch however much i maybe be wrong that TITP won't happen till the following year! gazza_20
The dates are fake. As for TITP, I think you're probably right. it's the 20th anniversary in 2013 so it would make sense them having a big booking, I'd say it's likely they'll do Glasto that year as well. GuitarManDan15
Anyone else think the roses might be at wireless, they got PULP last year on there reunion tour, its basically the headlining bands own gig, just they dont have to do any work for it, i'm pretty sure with the barclays backing its a big payday aswell, its not really a festival so exclusivity would be ok, and its normally around the begining of july so as long as its not the heaton park weekend, it would easily fit into the tour schedule and playing hyde park is a big thing Just a thought really... GuitarManDan15
i saw PULP there and it was amazing but im guessing if you saw BEP or KOL it be full of dicks. As i say just a thought really what with the timing of wireless, the chance to play hyde park and some serious cash being involved. The sound at arcade fire was dreadful but the sound for pulp was awsome, so dont really know what the difference is and if it would make any different to the roses decision to play there

rexclark
Really? I'd be interested to know why you think that? Pulp were just a britpop band who hung on to the coat tails of Oasis and Blur, I saw them at Leeds and they were good, nothing amazing, Jarvis was entertaining and is obviously an intelligent guy but they will never be known as a legacy defining band like the Roses will, Pulp owe their greatest moment to the Stone Roses, firstly because without the Roses making rock music cool again and back to mainstream popularity, Britpop would never have happened and secondly without Squire breaking his arm, Pulp would never have had the opportunity to step in at the last minute as Glastonbury headliners, which they took in no uncertain terms and propelled them to being as big as they are. Pulp are no doubt a very good band but The Stone Roses lead a movement that happened, you may be to young to appreciate that? But many 15-25 year olds in the "ate 80s/early 90s will know how important the Roses were and how big they would have been had it had not been for having to sit on there arses for 4 years without being able to release any material or play any gigs until the moment had passed. Stone Roses will always be > than Pulp in my opinion
thesecretingredientiscrime
While I'm a big Pulp fan, I think Roses would win it simply for being innovative in their genre. Would music have changed without Pulp, or were they simply another Britpop option? On a side note, do people really associate Roses with rock music, more than dance music? I'd always thought they were a dance group personally. I also love a lot of people on the facebook events and different discussions about Heaton Park, calling for Noel/Liam/Kasabian to support. I've never seen what any of these have got to do with Roses music (maybe first record Kasabian), and would love it if Roses went for a support line-up ala Spike. Justice anyone? thesecretingredientiscrime
I read someone on Twitter (possibly Matt Everrit or the bloke from Q) saying that most people won't like the support. Which leads me to think (maybe have a bit more of a guided hope) they are going down the dance route. Wouldn't mind your line-up though.
