amfy
No one asked us anything about alcohol on the way in. Just waking up to hear of tent thefts either side of us in quiet camping. Girl saying her bag went from right by her head in her tent - just a reminder to keep your valuables realy close at night.
amfy
We definitely made 2 trips in with no hassle - we were only obviously carrying alcohol on one of them, but it was never a question. Youll be fine
ramragon
For anyone who was in the emperors last year ther cars are parked on what was the caravan field, a road seperates that from where the tents are, no way are they only letting you do 1 booze trip. Theres around 400 yards of fence alongside the road and around 6 large gaps to get through with maybes 2 staff on patrol along it. As for the thefts, shocking as usual, I hope someone manages to get hold of one of them, just about to get outa sleeping bag but I cant hear of anyone going mad around me so maybes the emperors was left alone. Its a hike from general camping with plenty of families who were sober so a bit riskier to enter tents to steal

Jay_McB
We're in quiet camping and another group close by have woken to find their bag stolen... That's three been done in just a small area - I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking about what I'd like to do to the thieving scum. Good news is... the lady who was robbed near us is adamant it's not going to wreck her KC weekend and she's staying to enjoy the festival, now that's impressive :-)

Comfy Bean
Local boy Dizzee Rascal has just done Bonkers as part of the opening ceremony at the Olympics. 80,000 in the stadium and an estimated 4 billion watching around the world. Not a bad warm up for Kendal Calling tomorrow night !!
amfy
16 phones went from tents in quiet camp last night and 5 of them were traced as in use in Manchester by morning. People dont generally put phones in lock up because they tend to be using them for phoning, texting, taking photos and errrm posting to efests just before bed, but look after them anyway because there is an organised criminal gang operating here. amfy
You could say the same about burglary but having nothing in order to keep thieves away is never going to be most people's way forward. My valuable stuff is always right with me at festivals and thats worked for me so far. Excess money goes to the lock ups but my phone/camera is for me to use. I would rather lose them because I'm using them than not be able to use them out of fear. Any way - no repeat of that shenanigans last night and we are having a great time. amfy
Ucomfortably numb - they have opened extra field just past quiet camp - loads of room there if youre not already here. Groud is squelchy in places and rain likely so wellies walking boots rather than flip flops. At this stage trainers wouldnt be disastrous - but maybe later! AnnaGrant
Bloody tent thieves. We had them at Bearded Theory, first night too as ever. As Rabid says, they will have your stuff, even if it is by, or under your head, or in your pockets. Really surprised about phones being taken. Again, as others have already said, thieves don't normally go for traceable stuff, and phones are eminently traceable. Glad to hear people aren't letting it spoil their festival. That would be the greater loss than money.
amfy
Fab day. Wind up birds, little roy, dodgy, spector, shed 7, dizzy, dreadzone- my knees are gone but will somehow find a way to bounce thru tomorrow. I hope.
craigybaby
Annnnd I'm back in the real world. What a truly fantastic weekend, highlights were Max Raptor, DJ Yoda, Dizzee Rascal, Extra Curricular, Vintage Trouble and The Riot Jazz Band. Really though there was so much going on I never would have had time for everything I wanted to see. Next year I'll probably spend more time in Chai Wallahs and the Riot Jazz tent. The Sailor Jerry tent after the main stage had finished was also brilliant, even if I did have to help hold up the hatch on Saturday night! ramragon
Excellent weekend, met some good people, music highlights probably James last night, song highlight being close to the front for shed sevens.chasing rainbows and the reaction it received. Main critical point, arena toilets were grim, toilets next to main stage were extra grim ! The grey urinals just became lash fountains by early afternoon and by nighttime the mud was pretty much stinking and horrible to walk on. Don't know how feasable a block of longdrops would be next to the main stage but its gotta be more hygienic and manageable in the long run. We preferred going back to the emperor's toilets than staying in the arena. Small gripe though, the weekend was excellent and even weather wasn't too bad. Did you not go Jacko ?!? Mr_Grump
After a nights sleep back home, the car's unpacked & everything wiped down/put away. Another ace weekend, another one to remember. Highlights King Charles - Calling Out, Sunday - unbelievable energy, what a guy! Dreadzone - Chai Wallahs, Saturday - finally caught them live....exceeded my expectations Edwyn Collins, Roddy Frame & Tim Burgess singing "A Girl Like You" together (Tim Peaks Diner - Saturday)...the hairs on the back of my neck stood up Lowlights Maximo Park - just didn't do it for me, felt their set was flat & didn't really get the corwd going Arena toilets - simply disgusting, not enough of them and those that were there were not serviced enough Organisation - seemed to be lacking on entry Pleasant Surprises Little Comets Tribes Benjamin Francis Leftwich The Mekkits Chai Wallahs - loved it, simple as and finally..... To the guys & gals that we met over the weekend (in particular Mr & Mrs Lakeland [Jonny....you're a star, dont change!!], Mr & Miss Ramragon, Mr & Mrs FlamingLippy & Mr Jonjo)....I hope you all had as good a weekend as we did....it was a pleasure to meet you all, who knows, next year may be a Festival 2012 Reunion!!
