There are signs that towards the third week, the low pressure to the south-east will weaken and this will allow highest pressure to transfer southwards towards the Azores. As a result, we will start to see a north-south split across the UK; most of Scotland and northern England will be cloudy and quite cool with some rain at times, particularly in the west, but southern areas will see some drier, brighter and warmer interludes due to being close to a ridging Azores High. Temperatures and sunshine amounts will probably only be close to average though.

Any particularly warm, sunny weather is likely to be reserved for the last third of July. The general emphasis is likely to remain on changeable conditions with low pressure systems tracking across at intervals, but one or two interludes of warm, drier and possibly sunnier weather are likely, most especially over southern parts of the British Isles. On the whole, the last third of July is likely to be statistically near-average for temperatures, rainfall and sunshine, though with the east drier and sunnier relative to normal than the west.

Overview

July 2012 is likely to be another fairly cool summer month, with a Central England Temperature of 16.0C. Temperatures are likely to range from 1.0-1.5C below the 1981-2010 average in northern Scotland, to around 0.5C below in most other parts of the British Isles.

It will be another wet month; the first half will be particularly wet in north-east England, while the second half will be wet in the north-west, but not generally as wet as June. Rainfall is expected to range from 40-80% above normal over much of Scotland and north-east England to just 0-20% above in south-east England.

Sunshine will range from near normal in southern England to 30-40% below in north-east Scotland, while other regions will generally have a small shortage of around 10-20%.

Am like a little kid getting all excited about it. Got all my essentials already laid out in the spare room to pack.

It will be good no matter the weather, but sunshine does always help. Little Roy in the rain just wouldnt be the same would it.

Fancy dress is proving to be a bit of a pain though. Picked something that thought would be simple, but its proved otherwise.

One thing I do keep meaning to ask. Do we need to pay for stage time listings or do you get these with your wristband on entry?

And another quicky that has been answered before, can we take disposable bbqs? Just thinking for the Thursday night.

Seeing as the weather has been terrible all summer I dont care what it's gonna be like now. I'm well prepared with decent waterproofs this year and I tested my new tent by leaving it out in the downpours for three days - not a drop in it.

Nothing is gonna put a dampener on my weekend, I just hope the calling out tent is a tad bigger considering people will likely just be in there for shelter if it rains

Well, I'm getting rather excited now for my third consecutive visit. The lineup is excdellent - almost too good as someone has already said. I'm afraid there will be some difficult decisions to be made at some times as to whether seeing half a set each of two bands you like is better than seeing one full set from them!

I'm liking the '90s feel and have a number of bands on my wishlist already. Really surprised Sound of Guns are only on the Houseparty stage but it will be good to see them in an intimate setting. If you've not seen them before there is a video on Youtube from their appearance two years ago that I put up then - always a good show.

Catfish and the Bottlemen, Victorian Dad and Stan's Magic Foot are worth catching and Louis Barabbas is a real showman. There's so much decent stuff though, you can hardly go wrong.

I hope the 'one trip with alcohol' rule has been relaxed - that just seemed daft. It's hard enough to carry all you want on your first admittance. Wonder if there will be showers this year for us in the cheap seats? There were in 2010 but didn't see any last year, and is Pootopia just for Emperors Field or will there be a pay version in the main area? My only gripe would be Robinsons ales taking up space that could be given over to another brewer - they're not my favourite brewery but that's just personal taste. And if that's all I have to moan about then things can't be that bad, can they?

Oh, one more thing. I've been really lucky with the weather the past two years ( a few showers in 2010 and hardly anything last year) so let's hope I can make it a hat trick (couldn't go a whole post without mentioning the weather, could I?).

Hi guys, I know this has been kinda covered before but I could do with abit more info. Gazebos - officially it says no but has there been any up over the last few years? Weve got 4 tents this year so thinking of putting one in the middle of us all to provide abit of shelter/chatting space for when the inevitable rain starts :)

yeah I will be taking it up anyway but just wanted an opinion really. if it is chucking down I find it nice to all get together under a gazebo round a bbq rather than being sat cramped up in 1 tent. Although I suppose it depends on your friends!

Jesus...just reading some of the stuff that went on at TITP...horrendous atmosphere by all accounts...random twattings and tent wreckings, fights, chucking glass bottles and cups full of crap...I know you get the occasion dickhead at every festival but sounds like the level at TITP was off the scale. Completely against what the festival spirit is supposed to be about...

On a more positive note...had a Shed 7-athon on the way to work...they're always brilliant at festivals, gonna be one of the highlights on Saturday.

'Kinnel...just looking through the list of bands again, can't believe we're getting all that in one weekend...insane.

Just hoping Hyde & Beast and Random Impulse don't clash with W.A.S and Inspirals...

Just a hypothetical question, cos I don't know if it will happen or not.

My wife's morning sickness is kicking in quite hard and she's come off all her medication which has left her struggling to get around. We're both thinking that maybes 2 festivals in a week will be too much for her, she's talking about going to Wickerman and then staying with her parents whilst me an my daughter go to Kendal. She's gonna leave the final decision until she returns from Wickerman and see how's she's coped.

The issue I have is that I don't drive so my father in law is gonna drop us off if it comes to it, just wondered if there was a decent drop off point where I wouldn't have to cart all my camping stuff a long way, we could ask him to park up in the emperors car park whilst we set up but we'll only have tickets for me and my daughter as I'll give her ticket to one of my friends.

Any suggestions on the best option if we get dropped off ?

So would I, however Wickerman is a 2 day stint for us and Kendal is 4 days, she's pretty confident she could manage the 2, 4 days of Kendal is a different beast tho. Plus at Wickerman, her parents place is about 20 miles away so if she wasn't well there's an escape option.

I've gotta say if she wasn't well at the festival I'd probably leave with her, I know my daughter would. If that was the case I wouldn't be massively upset leaving Wickerman, I'd be gutted to leave Kendal as I've looked forward to seeing a lot of the acts since the announcement

You had a change of heart about Wickerman then or are you still going ?

I can't see why there are still announcements to be made a little over a week beforehand

It's not a massive concern if I'm being honest, I'm sure if I can do 2 or 3 trips to the car I'll be sorted. I'll just have to convince my daughter that she is capable of carrying some stuff, a task which seems to elude her at home where she can't be arsed to bring even a cup downstairs !

Hopefully the misses will be ok, just looking at scenarios if she doesn't make it.
