Probably neither, last time they played Download it became Ozzfest for the day.

I'm wondering if this will mean Ozzfest returns in 2012 too, if not I'd guess Sonisphere just on Bat Sabbath, and members of Sabbath being on various European Soni Festival line-ups last year.

I'm really hoping on an appearance at Donington regardless of whether it's under Ozzfest. If it's soni then it's a day ticket for that for me!

I can't be 100% sure, but I think the Ozzfest name is owned by Live Nation along with Ozzy. As far as I'm aware, Ozzfest has always been run by the predecessor companies (such as SFX) that eventually became Live Nation.

So if my presumptions there are right, that's surely got to mean that if Ozzfest is going to happen as a day of a festival, it's going to happen at Download and not Soni.

According to the email [invitation], all four original members of the heavy metal godfathers – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – will all be in attendance. Former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins will be hosting the private event.

IF the poster is real (which it probably isn't) I would say Download has them out of the two, Soni likes to get their big act for the year as an Euro exclusive and I can't be bothered to check but I think there is a Belguim Soni. Of course they may just decide do their own Ozzfest show instead.

there isn't, however soni chops and changes a few of the places they visit each year so it could be possible for them to have one in belgium

yup the key marquee headliner than grasspop had this year played soni like sabbath would be next year.
