I've gotta say this placing of Refused puts a real dampener on things. Legendary band like them before has-been trash like Lost Prophets seems like an insult (even if LP probably sell out larger venues etc etc). Has anyone been to Optimus Alive before? Do they make sure all the bands get a decent amount of time for sets, or is it ~30-45mins for the lower down bands :(

i think we will still get heavier bands on the 2nd stage on friday .... once Lostps finish then they may start on the 2nd stage ..... and then LMFAO will be on early in the morning with maybe enter shikari or some one who has a more electric feel in their metal/rock before .....

thats how i would do it anyway

flights have gone through the roof ... cheapest was atm seems to be from London but your looking at 160 quid

when i first looked in november they were 85 quid ... when i booked in jan they were 125.... so they have gone up quite abit

but i suppose you save the money in the cheap ticket price

Hey people - i have accommodation questions!

We've booked a hotel really near the festival - but thinking outside the box - is there much about in the Linda-a-Vehla area during the days or are we just plonked in the middle of nowhere? My query is because I've seen loads of cheaper hotels with pools etc in the city and think for before and after the festival they'd be better.

Are there many taxi's from fest site available in the silly hours to get back to the city? Would anyone recommend staying in central lisbon and coming out for the fest? Any advice helps..... :)

i had the exact same dilemma when choosing accommodation, in the end we decided we'd rather be in the city and travel to the festival rather than the other way round. we're going out 4 days before so want to be within walking distance to the touristy stuff and bars in the city during that time, then travel down to the festival from the city at the weekend. we're staying in the barrio alto bars/clubs area which is handy as its near the night bus-stop. i've checked and we'll get the tube or train to the festival in the evening and then there's buses every half hour during the night from the festival back to the city, then of course taxis if the public transport is late/full/slow. (btw i haven't been before, but have done alot of research, hope this helps!) :)

Great! Thanks for that - I just know what I'm like - I can't stay in one place for too long and if I'm stuck in an albeit beautiful hotel for the duration with nothing around it I might go insane!

I wanted someone who has been to confirm that the night buses actually run all night and that taxi's are reliable. Only ask - as I've been to Benicassim 5 times and taxi's aren't reliable and the buses to places around fest site weren't always running all night. I never had trouble there as i stayed in a hotel on main street (civilisation) and just hoping there's easy access in and out of city from fest site if i decide to do it that way!

Thanks :)
