Hesse
THE AFGHAN WHIGS, JUSTICE, MAZZY STAR AND MAYHEM, AMONG THE NEW ARTISTS CONFIRMED FOR SAN MIGUEL PRIMAVERA SOUND 2012 The comeback of two bands that are essential to understanding the nineties really shine out among the new confirmations for the next edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound that will take place from the 30th May until 3rd June in Barcelona. They are Greg Dulli and his The Afghan Whigs and Hope Sandoval’s Mazzy Star, two bands who will remind us just why they are still around. The presentation of the second record of the French duo Justice, who already gave one of their first live performances at the festival, will be another great attraction of the Barcelona event together with the first visit of the American A.A. Bondy, the legendary voice of the native-american folk Buffy Sainte-Marie, AraabMUZIK's original trance-hop and the new promise of the electronic pop Grimes. The black metal of the mythical Norwegian band Mayhem, the veterans of extreme metal Napalm Death and the recently reformed cult band Sleep, pioneers of stoner doom metal will also be part of the San Miguel Primavera Sound in Barcelona.Wolves In The Throne Room, authors of one of the metal albums of the year, the always welcome Melvins, the promising New York band Liturgy, the Spanish band Orthodox and Harvey Milk from Athens also join the list of artists who have confirmed their presence at the festival up till now. gmcgaw91
Just got my ticket and flights for this. Just need to sort a hostel stay. Will be my first festival abroad and my first alone. Line up looks great, but more excited by the general experience. Any advice for a first-timer? What usually happens on the wednesday and thursday? When are more acts revealed? Thanks
DJL
You don't need to stay particularly close to the festival - we stay with mates who live off las ramblas (very centre of town and near the beach where there are loads of hostels) and we have never had any problems getting home via metro which runs late/early or cheap cab. You can even walk there along the beach if you want, takes about an hour. I'd expect more line-up announcements soon and then gradually with full line-up by early April... frankburns
there will be new confirmations by the end of next week. the press conference (where the biggest part of the line-up is revealed) is going to take place at the end of january. http://twitter.com/gabiruizps
homeravery
Im thinking of going this year as Im travelling around europe at that time and the line up looks amazing. If you know or have been before, are the bands over all 5 days or mainly on Friday - Sunday? like British festivals.
DJL
Most of the line-up is spread pretty evenly over thursday, friday and saturday but they do have some acts on the wednesday and sunday too, in smaller inside venues. I think mercury rev and the vaccines (before they pulled out) were on the sunday line up last year.

Swigle
Considering driving from UK in campervan. What are the options for campsites accessible from the venue on a daily basis that don't mean having to spend hours travelling between venue and campsite? Would probably opt for public transport and leave van at campsite rather than drive to and fro every day ... Unless the parking near venue is available and not excessively expensive? Alternative is to leave van parked up somewhere for duration of festival (is airport an option?) and find cheap hotel nearish venue for 3 / 4 nights. All suggestions / info welcome! Cheers, Steve
Treez Cake
I'm going to the festival this summer since I missed it last year when I was in Barca. Are there any meetups for people that are going to the festival to go together?

DJL
Gutted that bjork isn't going to be replaced by another headliner. Surely in this situation the artist that pulls out does not get paid so the ticket money can be re-invested? It may be difficult at this notice and I'm not expecting radiohead or anything but the walkmen (who i like) are far from a replacement to bjork. It's a good festival with a strong depth of line-up but needs a headliner each night to justify the cost imo otherwise it's competing with smaller, and cheaper, festivals. It seems unfair that those with saturday day tickets get a refund and those with weekend tickets, who were going to see bjork more than any other artist, get nothing. shoptildrop
Hiya this is 1st time at this festie does anyone know what the score is with exchanging tickets for wristbands? Is this done on the site as other festies and what about the other gigs prior to the thursday that are dotted aroound Barcelona do u just need your primavera ticket to get in? also, are all the stages within the site thurs/fri/Sat? as finding the website not giving that much info on these points Appreciate any help on this one
DJL
You can exchange your wristband at the parc del forum site but i'm not sure about the gigs beforehand as never been - i'd assume you can. All the stages on the thurs, fri and sat are part of the same venue...
Rio
Hey, my 2nd Primavera this year, can not wait!! All ticket exchange info is here: http://www.primaverasound.com/noticiaSingle?origen=ps&id=822&lang=en As for gigs each side of the festival you just show up with your ticket (or if its before the fest) or with your proof of purchase if you havent exchanged it for your ticket yet. Gigs at Arc D'Triomph are totally free for all. Thu/Fri/Sat all main stages are within the festival grounds yes, but there is also gigs in Parc de la Ciutadella during the afternoon which is really cool, and also theres a Red Bull bus which bands play on, this year that is just gonna be parked outside the festival arena. DJL
Great festival - personal highlights justice, hanni el khatib, m83 and the rapture. I wonder if they ended up losing money on the saturday night - didn't pay a headliner but it was comparitively very quiet - must've given a LOT of refunds
