cwaite123
Also Muse were playing an album in full after touring their latest album a fair bit, Foo's haven't toured their latest album at an english fest yet, only the MK Bowl shows and they only tend to do a couple of dates when they do tour and have been like that for a fair few years now. They haven't headlined an english fest since 2007 when they did V I don't think?
gazza_20
Foos had Wasting Light out when they played TITP and IOW last year so yes they did do fests with the new album!

eFestivals
I was placed in a queue on the website that said something along those lines, not the best evidence but better than nothing. Considering the gig sold out in a matter of seconds and people we coming from all over Europe to it, I wouldn't be surprised... so 30,000 web-browser windows trying to access tickets, then. How many of those web browser windows do you think were people with just one-window-attempt at getting tickets? How many windows did you have open yourself? That 30,000 windows was probably 7,000 people or less on the basis of how most people try and get tickets.
jump
I did mean to add iow at the end but t isn't an english fest, it's a uk one
astroman123
The Cure aren't big enough for the MAIN stage IMO. Nme headliners would suit them..Also it would be one of the biggest NME headliners in years. Does anyone know the capacity of the Radio 1/NME Stage? They might not even be playing as far as any of us know.

rexclark
The Cure will be another act like Pixies and The Smashing Pumpkins. A good band to have on the bill, will probably punt a good few day tickets and the crowd who go to see them will enjoy it. If they are playing there'll be a big new act on the NME stage and it'll be packed with all the younger crowd who arent interested in The Cure. It happened in 05 when Pixies played and alot of the crowd were packed in the tent for Kasabian, it happened in 07 when The Pumpkins played when a huge proportion of the crowd went to see Klaxons instead and to a lesser extent it happened in 2010 where Arcade Fire drew a reletively small crowd because the younger crowd were away watchin Pendulum. It has to be added that all these years sold out, so if The Cure play and there's a big headliner on the NME (for instance Ed Sheeran) I don't see the problem really. astroman123
A few good points in there. But if im being honest if it's out of them or The Killers to headline...I would choose The Cure anyday..

eFestivals
what do you make of that link to do with The Cure I posted a bit aback? I'll post it again. http://craigjparker....ding-leeds.html who knows? The net is full of claims that "my mate told me", but only a tiny fraction of them turn out to be true. For (just?) that one saying the cure, you could find a thousand saying green day or whatever. The frequency - either high or low - gets to mean nothing either way. The only way any credit can be reasonably put to such things is if that person has a proven history of being right - but even then it's not any guarantee because the wrong stuff goes around sometimes. RDCL
most people here are saying that the vast majority of the young r/l crowd will be in the nme tent. not sure if that will be the case, i'd probably fall into that category of the young reading crowd and i know a lot of people who like the cure. in fact i've just searched the cure's facebook page and 43 of my friends 'like' the page. I'm not saying the cure will be popular with many of the younger crowd, but i dont think its as a niche booking as people on here are making it out to be. not all the young reading crowd are the type who wear them leavers hoodies and snapbacks and wear sunglasses at night, some of us have good taste in music
