yeah there are loads of people selling tickets for this. collectively the two shows are far from sold out as far as i can see, especially the sunderland date. even tho my wristbands for knebworth say numbers 48000+ on them not sure if thats an actual implication of how many tickets have been sold for it or not. they are still an amazing band and their huge arena tour last november sold out completely and most of it very quickly. There just not as super popular as they were say 1999-2007.. Think they should have only had the one outdoor date in knebworth this year, not sunderland as well. Supports of Dizzee, Wombats & Reverend and the Makers make it a great line up for me though, cant wait :)

Some of us were there at Reading 07.

Nauseating is an understatement. Vomit-worthy is an understatement.

If I shat all over all the bands and then sprayed it all over the audience, that'd be an apt physical comparison to what their 07 show was.

yes and i was one of them. i saw them at reading '07, waited bashed at the front all the way through the crap that was bloc party and arcade fire that day lol they've been ripped by the majority or efests for that performance and i really dont see why..

sure anthony fucked about and blew a speaker and flea n john had to jam for what seemed like ages, but tbh the jamming sessions at the hyde park shows in 04 were massive as well. and they wer planned. so any true fan wouldnt have minded that one bit.

and yes they didnt look super excited to be playing and with the same energy that should be seen headlining reading. but that weekend was literally there last shows of that gargantuan world tour. and ther were obvious problems between them and john, so that wouldnt have helped.

But over all they sounded good, the set list was good enough (considering the random skints some of their sets have) and it will most likely be the last time john ever played with them in the uk if not at all.

So that show, for me anyway, especially the lead off from wet sand and feeling like i was dying during the extended jam after give it away will always make it a great memory and show.

anyway mate i wouldnt worry, you'll have a blast at sunderland. They were amazing at the 2 birmingham dates i went to in november and in the tiny koko show in september. Cant wait for sat!

well arent you a charming fella ahaa i enjoyed arcade fire in '10 but not in '07. and i will never like bloc party..

their sets are always quite erratic so that was nothing new, and they did sound fine. it was the last time john played so it is a great memory none the less.

you havnt actually said what it was you found so appalling about the set.. just spouted a fairly elaborate amount of pretty inventive abuse about it lol

yes it could have been better but under the circumstances that became apparent afterwords with the lengthy hiatus and john leaving, it was a bit of a wonder that they actually played.

you obviously dont agree same as many others, but i for one was glad to get that show than none at all. Especially as i was made to leave the reading stadium gig the year before very early for travel.

I think the biggest issue with RHCP in 07 probably explains why loyal fans liked it and everyone else thought it was an equivalent experience to trying to swim a mile through cat vomit - they treated it like it was a small gig in front of rabid fans who would hang off evey unknown album track, extended jam or sulky tantrum. Unfortunately it wasn't, it was a festival headlining gig in front of a familiar but mixed crowd and they played it all wrong. Apart from the big fans nobody was impressed by anything they did, they could quite easily have played a whole set of songs that everyone knew but they fucked around and tested everyone's patience while boring them senseless for an hour and a half. Sure it may have been the end of the tour and there were issues in the band band but that only explains why they were so shit, it doesn't excuse it or mean that they weren't.

to be fair its all about opinions and 6daiviesdr sounds like a massive rhcp fan. Bjork could sing nursey rhymes and I would be a happy boy. Some people think radiohead were shit the other year and I though they were fantastic.

Dont think you can be a good judge how good a band were on such and such if there your favorite band, which is why I never include bjork and radiohead when I include best bands live as how can you be a good judge?

That is a good deal! Normally i would pounce on that but seeing them at Download was enough for me. It is a bad year for gigs/festivals but it could also be a good opportunity for punters to cram in some cheap gigs. Let's hope things pick up though.
