Maybe independence movement needs something other than SNP... it's too broad a coalition to be sustainable. Independence is still possible if you look at polls for different demographics, but doesn't look like possible anytime soon.

Didn't peg you as an Alba fan

anyone who saw the leader's debates will know that snp supporters aren't impressed by the snp's record in office.

next question is, will sturgeon's hubby hand back control of the party,  and will he hand back the missing money?

Well you were half right

Party doesn't look great during leadership contest  - shock!!

That's never happened with any other party has it?

Lots of people desperate to write off the SNP/Indy. Funnily enough, many of them have written them both off  a few times before.

I am not denying that damage has been done but parties have recovered from worse before and the one advantage the SNP has is that there is no other realistic place to  cast your vote for pro - Indy voters.

I think having the first minister and chief executive as husband and wife was always going to be problematic. I am not sure if it was arrogance or stupidity that allowed it to continue.

It looks like the new SNP leader will win because he isn’t the other 2, which doesn’t seem like a platform for success.

snp caught lying about the same things they used to lampoon other parties for.

Yeah, it never looked great. I think it may need for the best that the new leader starts with a clean break from the "old regime"

Well, I have to confess that is largely what has motivated my decision to vote for Humza, but you never really know how good a leader will be until they get a chance to lead.

Although I do worry that Yousaf following Sturgeon may end up being a little like Moyes following Ferguson.

We'll see.

oh, the missing money is making bbc news -not heard that before, the snp looked untouchable, now they just lookuntrustworthy.

judge them by their record in govt - they've been judged, and indie support is the loser.

But unlike other parties, someone resigned as a result.

in the snp leadership election nearly 50% of snp members voted for a person to the right of the tories on many issues.

How many issues exactly, Neil?

I guess you're part of the fifty percent who could support her for leader

I voted for Humza and have already said I would have considered resigning from the party had Forbes been elected.

That was because of her views on LBGT issues. I don't see that as a left/right issue. I see it as a wrong/right issue.

aren't rthey largely how sturgeon acted? by dismissing self id as meaningless.

If she dismissed self Id as meaningless why is your Tory government blocking it? With your support.
