GRichards23
Reckon Copping recognised his mistake leaking MH, so laid a false trail? Confusing stuff. Edited January 17, 2012 by GRichards23
Dan R
Download FB retracted it's mistake, they're playing 3rd on the mainstage

mrtourette
There are some good bands there, but I can't get my head around Chase&Status into The Prodigy. I know he likes C&S but do Download-goers really need a dancey sub to justify The Prodigy headlining, or vice-versa? Having a sub that 'matches' or 'leads into' the headliner is simplistic, overrated and kind of insulting to the intelligence and attention-span of the audience, and what little that may be gained by it is cancelled out by the fact that the last three hours of the main stage is now dedicated to a genre that is likely to be of little interest to a lot of people there and also pairs the weakest/lowest profile headliner with the weakest /lowest priofile sub. I'd imagine both Biffy and Soundgarden would have told him to fuck off if he'd asked them to sub The Prodigy and unless weekend tickets sell out he's going to have a hard time filling the arena on the Friday if he has to rely on day tickets. I applaud him for showing some diversity and I know that's why there are other stages available, but it just seems that he's gone OTT and unless he gets an amazing seciond stage headliner/sub it's going to leave a lot of people non-plussed on the Friday night for quite a lengthy period of time. t8yman
I dont like c&s, but dont mind them being there, some people are going mental about it. im hoping 2nd stage has something decent, failing that - I'll just get even more w*nkered than I already am. jordanuk90
The C&S slot could be a selfish move by AC because he really wanted to see them or maybe I'm just thinking that because I know practically nothing about them.
the_hedge
Bold move booking Chase and Status and in my mind a good move. If the festival is to stay fresh it has to bring new bands and genres of music. It's still 80% metal and most peoples favourites will always return but it needs to be mixed up a little from year to year. Very pleased with the overall announcement. Andre91
I'm a fan of C&S, but I couldn't believe the announcement. I didn't think they were big enough to sub anywhere, let alone Download where they will maybe have a minimal fan base. The top 2 on Friday are the most un-Download thing imo but they will smash it anyhow, it'll be an epic night imo.
devilman
C&S put on a great show. I saw them at T in July and they did indeed smash it BUT IMO they have no crossover at all with what I would expect to see at download. If I was a fan of theirs I wouldn't shell out the day ticket or whole weekend price just to see them. Don't get me wrong, if there is no one else decent on 2nd or 3rd stage then I'll probably end up going to see them but I'd rather have a heavy rock or metal band there. Pendulum kinda carry it off, as do Prodigy to a certain extent but C&S is taking the Mick. 2nd stage to be more rammed than for Korn no matter who is on I reckon. Andre91
See i thought that, they don't have any crossover material at all, whereas Prodigy do. That's why i didn't expect them to se subbing, 2nd stage headliner maybe but not sub. I'm wondering how much the arena is gunna clear once Machine Head are finished. Dan R
I think C&S have that slot below prodigy to keep all the dance music in one place. I can imagine a lot of the people wanting to see C&S will want to see prodigy as well, and vice versa, people who want to avoid prodigy will want to avoid C&S. It's saves the crowd shifting all over the place and if you want to avoid any form of dance then they can just stay away from the mainstage for one evening. It's not taking up a big slot either in the sense that they've got a sub-headliner band playing as well anyway. SOAD
Despite the fact Download had System of a Down last year, this Saturday is already looking incredible... if they put Mastodon or someone like Alice in Chains after Trivium there will be very little chance I'll be leaving Saturday main... othewise I'm not insanely excited about the other two days even though I would want to see most of the other bands just they aren't really grabbing me i.e. Machine Head's new album is awful imo, I'm not sure how good Black Sabbath and Soundgarde nwill be closing the fest nowadays etc.

PastCaring
Clearly, Copping has put C&S under Prodigy in the hope of persuading substantial numbers of local ravers (or whatever they call themselves ) to part with the cost of a Friday day ticket - and considering the fact that we've overheard kids round these parts telling their mates that they've paid the best part of half a hundred for C&S tickets, he could well be onto something. Let's just hope there's something halfway decent on second stage!
