Why would playing V (as opposed to T) preclude her from playing Bestival anyway?

probably. The big fests like to lock down their most major acts.

Well, last year Rob announced that the final headiner was an iconic solo artist, but confirmed that it definitely wasn't Bjork. I believe their forums spent a week bracing themselves for Grace Jones.

But I think Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Stone Roses etc are going to be in a different league in terms of cost, so it seems pretty unlikely.

Anyone know when Bestival is likely to sell out, im guessing a bit sooner with glasto not on, but a rough estimate from some other people will be great and I think queens of the stone age could headline.

Last year was June/July time. I think Glasto will spread out, and some people won't do a festival at all, so while they'll be an influence, it shouldn't be too huge. You should be fine as long as you buy by early May.

QOTSA would be awesome. Are they touring this year?

Part of me would quite like Florence as a headliner, will give me the opportunity to explore or head to one of the smaller tents.

Yeah, that's the only reason it'd be okay for her to headline.

I'm afraid it just wont look good for Bestival. When you say you're going to a festival, the first thing people ask is "who's headlining", everyone will just say The XX or Justice, because Florence is embarrassing.

But as Hazzamid11 said, there are a few benefits from having Florence play.

Admitedly they are huge atm but skrillex played last year and is bigger than foster the people so i dont know why you are doing a laughing face.

I think they were billed to play last year at one point actually, but pulled out.

I'm not sure they pulled out, they said they thought they were playing but weren't actually booked.

Foster The People are good live, but headlining would be hilarious.
