Dave The Hedgehog
I don't even actually hate most of these bands, most of them have a couple of songs I like, but that's it, and that's all there ever will be. There's no excitement about any of them, because if I missed them I'd be able to catch them later. On the flipside there are bands from across the pond I see several times on a tour rather than risk missing out and not seeing them for another 3 or 4 years. dingbat2
Hah, yeah, pretty much. Who knows.. I think bands like Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Animal Collective, M83, The XX, etc will be the bands that go on to headline in the future. Can't imagine going to a major festival in 10 years time and seeing a 30yr old Ed Sheeran playing a headline set.
Joe-
The selfish part of me wants to keep them as 'my little secret' and away from the masses, but the other part of me thinks they should get the recognition they deserve, and play to bigger crowds. Until then, I will love watching them at smaller stages / venues knowing that i am right and the masses are wrong!!! Ho Ho
LondonTom
So erm aside from criticizing new music once more and the lack of headliners (Mainly I see as if anyone does get bumped up, people moan they are not big enough yet). I was thinking this earlier, but how about Jack White as headliner at Bestival? It would be risky, but with material from his other projects could do it? kaosmark2
I can't see anything wrong with Jack White, as long as he's prepared to play White Stripes/Raconteurs songs in his set. If he doesn't, he'd piss a lot of people off if he was doing a headline set. Great idea though.

smogo
Jack White has said that The White Stripes were merely covering his own solo material, so yes he will be playing White Stripes tracks at his solo gigs.

kaosmark2
Yep, I've suggested him twice now. Both times I think in this thread. I've also suggested Tricky on the grounds that he's touring Maxinquaye again for the first time in over a decade, he's been at Bestival before, Rob personally knows him and has done an A-Z of Tricky on one of his radio shows (Rob said he personally knew two of the headliners), and Rob also said that he intends to get more hip hop for Bestival including "more classic UK stuff". mike46
Can't remember where we are with suggestions now (confused between reading forum an this one!) but what about Mumford and sons? Didn't they sub in 2010?

dacbo
Apparently, Bestival never share headliners with Rockness. Would be a poor headliner IMO, especially because they'd be subbed by either XX or Sigur Ros, which reads wrong.
smogo
Of course, the other reason why Mumford & Sons would be a poor headliner is because they're FUCKING AWFUL. Edited February 28, 2012 by smogo
