Bestival 2012 Headliners

i honestly really liked last years Leeds lineup - were loads of bands i would've gone to see if i had gone (only reason i didn't go was that none of my friends wanted to go as they aren't into the same type of music as me / Bestival was better and they/i could only afford one festival) but this year is seriously laughable (then again, so is T In The Park's and Isle Of Wight's - what happened!?)

probably because at the end of the day, there are hundreds of other bands playing the festival, but only three headliners, which is what makes it so interesting / the hot topic. but i see your point. i honestly had more fun at the smaller acts last year than the headliners (obviously The Cure were phenomenal but i saw Primal Scream right afterwards who imo were even better)

say what you will, but the headliners of the festival do have a lot to do with it. all us music 'snobs' (not the word i wanted to use but why beat around the bush?) can say that the headliners don't matter, but at the end of the day, if the headliners were absolutely appalling, i think i'd have a harder time justifying going to the festival

I honestly can't believe how many people are believing it's Radiohead! RDB has said several times that it is not them. In several tweets to people asking about and on the Bestival message board. I don't see a long list of occasions about him lying. The Bjork thing was a change of scenario after he said she wasn't playing it and after he said he still was waiting on a headliner. He's probably sick of it and frustrated that people just won't get the message now.

Radiohead have even said themselves that they are not playing any UK festivals and are only doing arena dates. On a few occasions as well. A lot of lying just for Bestival. Even if they were going to play a festival I'm sure that a bigger one than the size of Bestival would have been in for them.

People are really looking too much into Sigur Ros as well. It could literally be anybody following them. A good sub headliner doesn't mean a great headliner. The only thing they have to be I'd say is bigger than Sigur Ros. Which could be Florence, The Beach Boys, Pulp, quite a few bands tbh. They don't even have to have a critical standing like that of Sigur Ros'. They have to be headline status in the eyes of RDB that's all.

Thing is, no promoter should ever get into answering questions about whether a band is playing or not - it's a no win however they approach it. The best course is go with no replies to all of them.

I'm still holding out for a rock headliner one of the nights, Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins (unlikely), Queens of the Stone Age or Pixies would make me actually shit all over my own head.

with everyone speculating Radiohead again, could it be another Bjork type case, in Robs tweet he seemed surprised himself as to who the headliner is, so never no. Personally i dont think it will be, i just want Beck.

Now I am just saying but we have a dog sitter for when we go away and her hubby has quite a few connections in the music industry and did a lot of roadie work with some major acts. When my GF told him we were going to Bestival he said Pearl Jam are playing this year. I don't see it myself and don't shoot the messenger. All those tours may have confuddled his brain.
