Bestival 2012 Headliners

Still reckon Friday night headliner will be Bloc Party, Rob said you're all wrong in regards to the announcement tomorrow evening. Didn't necesarily specify not headlining. Just no other UK festival dates, unless there is a tour in the works (likely aswell) i just think they would fit so well. After XX and often bands will play one big show as a we're back and then tour.

Not a clue has to who will be announced tomorrow. Which is actually rather exciting for once.

Simon & Garfunkel? I say that purely because an advert to buy a boxset of their stuff was on the side of the Guardian Bestival page just then.

I'm sure it means absolutely nothing but they'd be pretty special. Probably way too expensive though...

Someone one Twitter said to Rob "Why isn't Florence at Bestival this year " Or something, and he replied "Full line-up still TBC"

Ah well, if it's her then there's plenty more to do, if it ISNT, then yay.

Playing again and no Festival dates confirmed as yet.

Why are people so sure it's Florence? Surely it would make more sense to be Bloc Party as they're playing a lot of European festivals this summer but have no UK dates announced...

Rob is usually clear when a band isn't playing. His answer on twitter means she's playing, IMO, he'd say so if she wasn't.

Neil reckons it's them. He's said them not being allowed to announce other dates until May would fit with typical R/L contracts.

Depends how you judge it, Florence is undoubtedly the bigger act, however you could argue she's been over exposed- a huge tour & lots of festival dates... Where as Bloc Party would probably be a UK exclusive & they haven't played any live dates in the UK for about 3 years?

But their popularity has definitely slumped as a result, I think. Their star was waning even when 'Intimacy' came out, and they've not done anything to up their profile since. I think an overexposed Florence would still make for a stronger headliner, whereas Bloc Party would be an insanely good co-headliner.

I still keep hoping it maybe Radiohead, they've arguably been talked about the most & the only month where they don't have anything going off is Sep, though I'm doubtful as to whether the budget could spread to securing them along with Stevie Wonder? ...Also I'm aware that they've said they're not playing any UK festivals this year, but Bjork also said the same last year, she even announced her residency at the MI Festival as her only UK performances.

That said, Florence or Bloc Party are more likely for obvious reasons, I guess we'll have to wait & see.

It is Florence though. No point pretending it might be Radiohead............or Bloc Party (as if). It's Florence. Rob has as good as said so.

Bit disappointed without having at least one dance act headlining (depending on your interpretation of New Order) but Florence is extremely talented.

I'm pretty glad in a way that I'm not tied to the main stage for headliners this year.

Florence not ideal but at least the rest of the lineup is already great. At Reading they made a bad line up worse. I can tolerate them being here to draw the crowds as long as there's a decent alternative when they're playing.
