Reading/Leeds are probably spending £1M+ on each of their headliners. I'd guess that the Foos are nearer £1.5M than £1M, and possibly nearer £2M.

Those numbers are based on the £1.2M it was publicly stated that Oasis got quite a few years back now.

But it's worth remembering that R/L is getting two shows out of its acts for their fees, so the amounts are not quite as great as those numbers suggest.

With Flo being just about the hottest ticket seller of the moment, she'd be worthy of a big fee - so £500k might well be an understatement, especially if it's a contract that severely limits what other shows she's permitted to announce (a promoter will have to pay more the more restrictive the contract gets).

So on the basis that R/L have paid (say) £600k for Flo - for 2 shows don't forget - I'd guess that Bestival would be paying her something in the £200k-£250k range if they've got her. And that sort of amount would be in the ball park that I'd expect a fest of Bestival's size to pay for at least one of its headliners (tho I know that New Order are significantly less than that, but fests often have headliners of different strength, and so cost).

Festivals of around the 20,000 attendees mark will be paying something like £75k-£150k for their headliners.

Festivals in the 5,000 to 10,000 people range will be paying something like £15k to £60k for their headliners.

They'll of course be exceptions to those, because different festivals work their line-ups in different ways, but those numbers will be in around the right ballpark for the better known events I think.

I'd take a guess that Bestival has paid in the range of £450k to £600k in total for its three headliners this year.

I do sometimes get to hear exactly what some festivals pay, and/or what some bands are charging - which is how I know what New Order are asking for this year (I'm not going to state the amount tho).

I think Daft Punk are a bit of a Sigur Rós in that regard: much love from Bestival regulars, but not massively popular in the real world. I reckon there's a real chance that Bestival will get them in the near future; if they were too ridiculously expensive then Rob wouldn't even bother asking every year, surely?

Oh yeah, I forgot about how Rob asks Daft every year. Stevie Wonder and The Cure and Bjork tend to get more than what Bestival apparently has to offer. So Daft Punk was apparently getting $350-600k a night during their Alive tour. Hmm, maybe they are a possibility, then, if they ever get around to playing live again.
