Mancunians New Order formed from the ashes of Joy Division following the death of singer Ian Curtis in 1980, The band went on hiatus between 1993 and 1998, and broke up in 2007. Organiser Rob Da Bank says on the webstite, " So I've got Blue Monday blaring out of the Bestival HQ office speakers as we unveil our iconic Saturday night headliner New Order. It doesn't get better than that… but it does! 'True Faith', 'Bizarre Love Triangle', 'Fine Time', 'Regret' - so many amazing records I grew up listening to and still listen to now and they still sound immense, pioneering, legendary. See you down the front!"

I think another thing that concerns me about this announcement is it's not exactly going to shift tickets, is it? I mean, whoever wants to see New Order already can do so by going to their gigs, and I'm sure most who are won't be turned on by the logistical challenge (and expense) of going to the Isle of Wight to see them again it if it's easer to see them on the mainland. So... who are Bestival hoping to attract by making this announcement?

It's going to be another slow burner for tickets sales, isn't it?

Well that's what I mean. Sigur Ros are doing their only UK show at Bestival, for example. At this rate, more people will be there to see the subs and Big Top headliners than they will the mainstage. These next two mainstage announcements need to be pretty extraordinary to shift the focus away from the undercard.
