New Order to Headline Bestival 2012

Only about 20 other acts across various stages! In the Big Top, it'll probably be whoever Annie Mac's booked for Annie Mac Presents. Last year I plumped for Fake Blood and a bit of Annie herself while The Cure were droning on on the main stage, and then headed over to the Afterburner for Paul Chambers followed by The Japanese Popstars.

I see Hooky has been trying to prevent New Order from performing as "New Order" this year. All sorts of legal discussions going on behind the scenes. Given that the current line-up is 3/4 of the original line up, and Hooky left the band in 2007, he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

He's turned into a bitter man. I'm struggling to see anyone that has a kind word to say about him these days on the New Order forum.

His book was quite a good but easy read.

For people to turn around and say 'it's not New Order without Hooky' are completely misinformed about the level to which he's gone to isolate himself from anything remotely New Order.

He's just an obtuse character. He can't really stop New Order from playing or successfully convince most people that it's not New Order without him. He's just putting an unneccesary obstacle in the way of the 3 original members that want to just get on playing the music a lot of people love, and he's scared that them doing so reduces him to nothing. Part of the reason I theorised Bad Lieutenant got together was because Barney and Stephen were scared of all the litigation but them getting New Order back together is mainly just to say they don't really give a monkeys about him anymore, and he hasn't got a leg to stand on anyway. "Let him sue us, etc"

I mean obviously it's a shame it's come to that but I feel no sympathy for Peter Hook - he brought it all on himself.

It's going to be a great set and I'm looking forward to it immensely, and I hope to see everybody on here down the front.

I'm pretty indifferent to New Order, but I'll probably see them, for me its all about seeing acts you wouldnt usually and given that they are headling I'm sure they'll put on a wicked show. I do bloody hate hooky though especially as he is always playing his new venue in Manchester but just doing old Joy division songs..

I'm really looking forward to seeing New Order and although it would have been nice to see them with all the original members, I'm actually happy that Hooky won't be there as he just comes across as such a bitter old bugger these days. Judging by the ticket sales for the tour and a string of festival bookings, Nwe Order don't need him anymore.

Saw them last week at T and they were absolutely brilliant, brilliant set list of hits, Gillian Gilbert back on keyboards certainly improves them, they don't miss hooky at all. Wee encore of love will tear us apart with johnny marr on the bass was a treat, I don't think they'll disappoint too many!!

I've seen them 6 times before (including twice this year - Glasgow and Hyde Park) and Saturday was defintiely the best performance I've ever seen from them. They totally nailed it, and were the best thing I saw all weekend. Just an amazing show with a great selection of songs, and I love the Ian Curtis tribute they do at the end.

Happy days.

New Order have announced the release of a new live album.

'Live At Bestival 2012', recorded at Rob and Josie da Bank's annual bash last year, will be released on CD and download on July 8. All profits will go to the Isle Of Wight Youth Truth.

Drummer Stephen Morris said: "We played at so many festivals in 2012, and our highlights were, without doubt, the last two in the UK, Portmeirion and Bestival. Saturday night was fancy dress night, and Gillian enjoyed dressing up in her peacock head-dress.

"This charity release is a special way to mark the Bestival experience, and we're thrilled to be working with Rob and Josie's team to raise money for such a worthy cause on the island. It's great to give something back, and also to give such a brilliant crowd something to remember the show by. And if you weren’t there, buy the CD and enjoy the experience that way!"

'Live At Bestival 2012' is New Order's third live album following 1992's 'BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert' and 2011's 'Live At The London Troxy'. The band is gearing up to curate a day of live music from Manchester's Jodrell Bank on July 7 - with Johnny Marr, The Whip, ex Bad Lieutenant man Jake Evans and Hot Vestry all set to join them.

The 'Live At Bestival 2012' tracklisting in full is:

'Elegia'

'Regret'

'Isolation'

'Krafty'

'Here To Stay'

'Bizarre Love Triangle '

'586'

'The Perfect Kiss'

'True Faith'

'Blue Monday'

'Temptation'

'Transmission'

'Love Will Tear Us Apart'
