bexj
What else goes on? Obviously there's the fancy dress - is that just one day, or all weekend? What about food, bars, other non-music entertainment.....come on guys get me even more giddy about this than I am already!
Joe-
Definitely read up on the Ambient Forest, it's brilliant. Strolling around there with the lights and hidden stages is great, you come to an opening where the Bandstand stage is and you can overlook the whole Bestival site. Definitely have to do that. There's so much to do! I reckon I missed about 30% of stuff to see so I can't wait for this year. There will be dancing everywhere, on the Thursday I came across a man playing bagpipes and 50 or so people moshing to it. Wooo

Bisque
Get a tattoo at the Sailor Jerry's bar. Take a walk around the woodland up to the top of Robin Hill & then back down towards mainstage for some great views of the site (saw a shitty XX thing up there in'10). Watch the stuntmen on their bikes do the wall of death if it's back. Lords of Lightning on the Arcadia stage. Get laid with one of the hot over 18 girls that roam the campsite. Saw some Indian style break dancing/snake charming near Black Dahlia last year although I could have been tripping. Mutant trucks & cars that go around the site. Get married in the inflatable church. Get sausage & chips from I <3 Sausage & completely cover it all in mustard. Have an Irish whiskey from Chai Wallahs whilst watching some filthy dubstep at 4am. Get a cocktail from the Bollywood Bar... had a melon filled with some concoction. Smoke some shisha (& perhaps put something stronger in it) opposite the Bollywood Bar. Get an ale from the "organic green tent covered in grass & plants" which I think is somewhere up the hill behind main stage. Have a boogey & try to dance like Ed whilst watching Friendly Fires. Get royally fucked up & go with the flow. Far too many things to mention.

Dave The Hedgehog
The Ambient Forest is amazing. I swear to god I saw some of the members of the village people in there last year but I think I might have been seeing things. Robert Smith wandered through at one point eating a hotdog. One of the finest pleasures you'll have at Bestival is walking through there at 1am surrounded by Ulrich Schnauss' music, only to find yourself exiting at one of the most pleasant parts of the festival. This is a place you're likely to have a lot of random encounters with a lot of interesting characters, including me, who you'll find either nestling in a ditch talking about owls, or banging on wind chimes* * - I got more of a crowd doing that than some of the people in the Psychedelic Worm tent got last year. On a bum note I just have to say, if you by chance happen to stumble into the comedy tent, pick yourself back up and wander back out. I thought it was the worst part of the festival. Shaun Child
There is so much to do I doubt you'll be able to cover it all in one weekend. Just a few things I remember from last year Helter Skelter Pampering Tents Craft Tents Clothing & Fancy Dress Tents Crazy Golf Also, there was a 'hidden' converse music stage last year, you go in through a photo booth, have your pictures taken then a hand pops out from where the photos are normally delivered and waves them in your face! Next thing you know a door will open on the opposite side you came in, follow it around and you're in a lovely stage area with massive inflatable rubber rings to sit on and pillows & blankets everywhere! The music was good and if you waited around long enough a converse member of staff would come up to you & ask what shoe size you are, free shoes are the best! Not sure if it'll be there this year again but I wouldn't mind another pair of free shoes

Homer
Last year on the Fri, I got drunk, got lost for a few hours with a mate (Pendulum were on the main stage) and ended up going to: A party inside a hollowed out tree A wedding disco (apparently I shook the groom's hand) The Swampshack And some cabaret tent where ther was some really weird sh1t going on It was all brilliant - at the time I had no idea where I was, though it later transpired we were just staggering around a very small area on the left just after you enter the arena... Kowalski
Wall of death, roller disco (will it be back?), chillout at the bandstand and visit the woods are all highly recommended. I wanted to go on the Toboggan last year but there was always a huge queue. Sailor Jerrys is really good, it gets very lively later on. One thing I'd point out is that it is by far the most expensive festival I've been to (and obviously I can only compare it with the likes of Glastonbury, Rockness, Connect and TITP) - especially for drink, the prices in the bars are very high and I only managed to smuggle in 3-4 cans to the arena every day. I spent more money than I've ever spent at any other festival.

Kowalski
I second this, we had a few friends working on the bars so were getting half price/free drinks but still spent around 150 each just on booze in the arena, plus it's only cans they sell, no pints! Food is ok though, found some good stalls that had big portions for the price!
