The Picture/Photo Thread

I'm developing a bit of an interest in photographs, historical and cultural mainly, and love reading about the stories behind the photos.

Watched a documentary on Bob Gruen recently and spend the whole thing pausing and admiring some of the rock and roll photos hes taken over the years. Incredible stuff.

Bought a couple of photos and framed them for the living room wall, as below, and I'm on the look out for some more so wondering what are other peoples favourite photos/pictures and why? What does it say about you and your interests?

Bonnie Parker. I love the danger in this one. Bonnie and Clyde expected to die at any minute and knew it was inevitable they would be killed. Love made her do it they say.

I got the Michael Lavine book earlier this week (well my daughter did)

who did this image:

The book's full of great shots of ordinary Seattle street kids and bands:

like - Sonic Youth:

and Soundgarden:

Which reminds me - I used to have this on my wall and on a long sleeve (before he did it)

I'm a very experienced rock photographer. It's just a shame I'm reet crap.

(which might have something to do with why I let others do it now)

I can't think of any of my pics that are particularly good, but I do have just a few that I liked at the time I took them.....

That's matey from Toploader, in 2001. It looks shit quality nowadays, and that was perhaps caused by the re-size from the original. But I likes the way the lights caught his hair.

And that's of course Amy Winebucket-Crackhouse long before those bad days as a fresh-faced newbie.
