I'm sure there's hundreds of acts that are on the verge of touring. It doesn't make any of them any more likely.

Personally i think Foo Fighters are the 'legends' this year.

I love the Stones and they came from my hometown... but i don't think they should do any more festivals just one massive 4 hour farewell show and they should stop for good.

I like the Stones' music but I've got no interest in seeing a few bags of bones shuffle around a stage for another payday. That shouldn't be what R&L is about.

And Macca may be a 'legend', but that doesn't mean he's any good. It means he's popular and has managed to stay alive and in the public eye for a long time. Too many people get caught up the hype around 'legends' and seeing them just so they can say they have becomes more important than what they're actually turning out.

I'd much rather have a questionable new headliner than either of these, it's why I choose to go to R&L and not Hop Farm or Hard Rock Calling.

Because ( in my opinion) Harrison was the only one that didn't vanish up is own arsehole and kept a bit of dignity.

I've seen mcartney four times and every set has been exactly the same, even down to his "off the cuff" remarks and "shooting" his guitarist. Every other one I've seen on telly or heard on the radio, I could predict without fail what was coming next. I wouldn't be surprised if Harrison was made up if he didn't sing one of his songs again. He's turned into a cabaret act, and don't get me started on Ringo "brown" starr!

I'd love to see the Stones, one of my favourite bands, they've made some of the greatest music of all time, and I'd like to judge for myself weather they can still play live or not, but they just aren't right for R&L

50th Anniversary of the Stones in 2012. Saw them at O2 were amazing, plenty of young people (was 16 at the time) definalty fit the reading bill. Stones rather than Cure, Green Day or Killers any day. Its still unlikely and hoping they all make it to Summer2012.

They don't fit with the image or profile that FR is trying to create for R&L. And yeah, too expensive as well.

It was probably less than they would demand for R&L, isn't their manager something to do with the company that organises IOW? Probably meant that they were always more likely to do IOW and for cheaper than any other festival.
