Suppose you are getting on a bit Neil ;)

yep. Still,. the pension helps me pay the bills. :P

I've resisted a camper far longer than anyone thought I would do. And even then it was the missus who was the real driver behind getting one.

Comfy bed, fridge full of cold beer, cooker for bacon rolls every morning, no carrying stuff across fields, and about £100 less spent at every festival thru the summer. I dunno why I waited so long. :)

And paying just 55p a litre for fuel is the icing on the cake. :D

nowhere near as opulent, its just a panel van. I would love to be able to afford a camper. unfortunately - its not to be at the moment.

you got any piccys you want to post Neil?

I bought it a year ago today as it happens, for £2750 with a year's MOT. I've just put it thru a new one and it cost me the outrageous sum of £140 to get a corroded brake pipe replaced for it to pass this time. So, fingers crossed, I got myself a bargain (tho the engine is on the way out, but should hopefully last this year if not more).

Not the biggest inside, but with the 2-minutes-to-put-up awning attached it's plenty big enough. :)

if it was just the two of us, I could stretch to something like that, but having 2 kids means a much more expensive exercise.

nah .... you could stick them in the awning (which you can get 'tent' insides for), or (dependent on the kid size) one could go in a bunk in the cab, or you could get one with a hi-top. Mine's got four seats with seatbelts, so the travelling side of things is covered too.

The thing i love most with mine is that despite the poor MPG of around 20, it's still cheaper on fuel than the car it replaced. :D

At the Rollright Festival last year (really small event but fun) some of the punters were parking up in an estate car, pitching a tent ovet the back end and letting the kids sleep in the back while they were in the tent...or so I seem to remember. Mind you it was much more relaxed there.

Looks good :D

Hope Oaf don't read this forum, what with you splashing out on luxury items for your holidays :P

If I had holidays you might have a point. I only have work. And given it's my only vehicle, and no doubt costs 1/5th of the price of his car it ain't luxury either. ;)

Anyway, as it's the van's birthday, I'm off to bake it a cake. :P

All around yours for supper after getting back then? :)

Glad I saw this on here, love the festi atmosphere but also like my kip and sounds there will be a good vibe in the site with fellow Download goers anyway! So, any instrument players in attendance so we can have a tribute warmup on Thursday?

I swapped mine from non electric to electric last week. Can't beat a proper light and an electric heater. I shall be taking the DAB radio and the full camping kitchen. Fuck pissing about with a Hexi stove in the dark and walking miles with all my gear. This is the future I tell thee....
