..and the debate rages!... ;)

all good stuff and i hear some of the gripes..its juts impossible to book everyone that everyone likes..! for one mans bon over is another mans sigur row, one persons janelle monae is someone's justice and lets not forget we do have the xx, warpaint, soulwax etc exclusive plus loads of amazing new and intermediate bands

in terms of announcing earlier how can i when i don't have a headliner confirmed? believe me as soon as i have ill announce it! (and it could be quite soon)..us out of any promoters listen to what people want and try to deliver and would never intentionally hold back..we've got tickets to sell from a cold business side of things and you lot to keep happy!

anyway i hope the next announces and the headliners coming will please some/all

and 100% its not radiohead...the continual stuff about bjork came about cos she said no then came back 3 months later and said yes after id said no on the forum! if u get me?

carry on!

:)

Me too, I wonder if he's struggling nowadays. Most festival organisers would have just booked previous headliners, I think with the 'no repeat headliners' thing, most of the decent shouts are already out of the question.

I say, if you're having trouble Rob, re-book Beastie Boys, Underworld, Kraftwerk, Massive Attack or Chemical Brothers, I doubt anyone will mind!

Everyone was sure she was going to be headlining on the friday night after the xx but according to the latests reports its the friday night headliner thats not booked not the sunday like first said, as its is apparently the sunday headliner that is going to be announced soon and i personally cant see her closing the festival! but hey what do i know it could be anything at all!

I don't know any more to be honest. I don't have the link but he definitely said that the next announcement would be the Sunday headliner and it'd be announced mid-March. Is he really struggling that much to find other people?

hmmmm.... there seems too much conflict with his previous statememnts about headliners in that. For a start, how can he say the last headliner will be announced in May if he knows nothing about them?

Everything is pointing to a contractual clause stopping that announcement until then for me. And if that's the case I'm pretty sure I know who it is, and why.

A lot of money is involved when it comes to festivals; sponsorship money is one. I'm not exactly sure how 'in cahoots' your website is with the organisers of the festivals we discuss on here, and I'm sure at some point there's been some kind of underhand agreement made with them to assure that not too much information gets leaked out/gets leaked out as and when the festival organisers give permission to leak it...

nope, absolutely nothing like that in any shape or form. 100% wrong, in fact 200% wrong.

...So if that's the case (and I'm not saying it is because I can only assume) and you have an idea of who it is, do you think in the interest of the people that go to Bestival it would be a good idea to indirectly say who you think it is in the form of a new TBC or Strong rumour, rather than go the full hog and upset the organisers by actually telling us?

Who I might say it is and who it actually is may not be the same thing - and if that's the case then it's in no one's interest for me to say anything.

And whatever I might say changes nothing about who you actually get to see on the day.

I choose to say things when I feel it's appropriate for me to say things, and that's decided by a range of factors including now confident I am in my information &/or conclusions being correct.

In this particular instance I don't have anything strong enough for me to state what I'm thinking, tho hope to have more info in the near-ish future which will strengthen or weaken what I'm thinking. So I'm holding off until that point.

PS: efestivals doesn't have any arrangements about anything with any festivals (aside from sponsorship agreements we might have, unrelated to anything else about those festivals).

That's been a very deliberate choice since efestivals started. We deliberately don't get involved with any form of festivals organisations precisely because of that.

efestivals values its independence more than it values its own existence. If our fully independent stance leads to efestivals becoming financially unsustainable then so be it.

And there's a real risk of that happening. Another festivals website is selling its soul to anyone that will pay it the money that it wants to financially sustain itself, and readers of that website are being mis-led as a result. What they're doing also has an impact back on efestivals, but we won't join their dishonest game and will take any consequences that come back on us as a result.

Well it's bound to be either an act reforming or an act waiting to announce a tour first.

At a guess i'd go for Pulp, perhaps announcing an arena tour in the next few months. If not then it'll be someone totally out the blue.
