jazz565
My first was 2009 saturday with a day ticket but i'm gonna go with my first day at 2010 because I preferred it! Young guns were a very nice surprise, had only heard a few songs but thought the energy of their set was great! A day To Remember put on a solid performance Billy Talent was a childhood dream for me! Two Door Cinema Club had a fantastic set, just before they made it 'massive' and was a couple rows back Lostprophets was a nice singalong set, really liked it even though it wasn't the best performance Biffy Clyro had a faultless set, always great fun seeing them! Queens Of The Stone Age put on an awesome show, got me into them Guns'n'roses, i went for the novelty factor of watching them, I loved the constant axl rose abuse being shouted by the crowd and I by this point i was passed the point of normality influenced by a mixture of narcotics was having a brilliant time haha Great day! Poppington
Mine was the Sunday at Reading 2001, pissed down but pretty much stayed in the crowd all day, Saw Staind, Fear factory, SOAD, Marilyn Manson, Papa Roach, The Cult, QOTSA and Slim Shady. My first memory was just getting into the site at 8.30 in the morning and seeing some old dude in a leather jacket off his head getting a punch in the face off someone, Remember thinking to myself "where the fuck am i??" Haha.

mb23
First day was the Thursday in 2009 but we got there quite late and didn't really do much. Was really suprised at how big the place was, had a little explore and then just chilled back at our camp and got nice and drunk! First full day though was the Friday and it was pretty decent band-wise. Dananananakroyd, Manchester Orchestra, Alexisonfire, Little Boots, The Horrors, Florence and the Machine all on NME, followed by Bombay Bicycle Club on Festival Republic and then a cheeky bit of Kaiser Chiefs and Kings of Leon on the Main Stage! Was a great day, being in the crowds make you really realise how many people go to Reading!
jump
I remember the 1st time I went in 2002 I didn't even know the line up, it was about 2 weeks before the fest and some of my mates were going and invited me along. I got there on the day and still had no clue who was on the bill till I bought a programme and was moaning as when the arena opened all my mates sat around the campsite getting stoned and whatnot so I fucked off by myself and watched bands all day including getting to the front to see White Stripes, Dandy Warhols & Weezer, talking to some pretty girls in the crowd and a guy giving me a joint because he liked my tattoos. The next day some of group got bored with waiting to see a few specific bands so they took my lead and spent all their time seeing as many bands as possible with me. gary1979666
First Leeds fest for me was 99 for a day - stuck to the main stage all day - saw Lit, Sick of it All, Pitchshifter, Buckcherry, Backyard Babies, Feeder, Silverchair, Terrorvision, Offspring and finished off with the RHCP. Was gutted to realised that in the Lock Up of the day were Pennywise, Blink, Less Than Jake, The Vandals. Luckily missed Coldplay opening the Radio 1 tent. Supernintendo Chalmers
During my first Reading in 2007, whilst waiting to get my weekend wristband on the Friday morning I was greeted by the beautiful slogan 'get your rat out' painted in 2 foot high letters on the fence. The warmest of welcomes indeed. Not as hilarious as Razorlight headlining though Edited March 8, 2012 by 1007mileroundtrip
moshing
First festival ever was Donnington in 1998. Iron maiden, kiss and megadeath among others played. Sad day though due to two deaths during the Guns n' Roses set. First reading was sometime in the late 80s when Meat Loaf got bottled (can't remember the year or much about it. Was a little wasted). Had a long time away from festivals in the 90s but started again with Leeds in 2003 where afi in a tent were my stand out band. I now feel really old!! KG93
My first full day of a festival was Leeds 2010 the Friday! After a few days of drinking ect, I didn't drink all day specifically for The Libertines and I'm so glad I didn't! It was amazing that day, stayed at the main stage for the majority of the day and discovered Maccabees who I didn't even know before Leeds & now am a massive fan. Dizzee Rascal was also a pleasant surprise
