jump
Anyone think New Order may be in with a shout at a slot next year? Saw them at Hyde Park over the weekend and they were really great; would love to see them headline the NME tent.
Lewis Cato
Ah yeah that's a fair point; and really? Myself and everyone who I went with really enjoyed them. Where were you in Hyde Park? Was sound alright for you?

Lewis Cato
Ah fair enough; I was lucky enough to have good sound the whole day through but that was because I got there at doors and ran to the barrier, I heard some people were leaving early because they couldn't hear a thing though which is a real shame; I reckon Finsbury Park is going to be booked a lot more often in the future. kaosmark2
I don't think they will ever break up as such, since the band is pretty much Homme so he will just come and go back to it between other projects. If they could get back the line up of Songs For The Deaf (Lanegan, Grohl, Oliveri) I could see a possible bump up.
Vieuphoria
Hyde Park is a terrible venue. It's just not a viable gig location anymore.

mrtourette
It's no longer fit for purpose and I will be doing my very best to avoid ever going to another gig there. I wrote a huge email complaing to live nation, not that it will probably do very much. The sound was awful where I was! As I said in the Hyde Park thread, I felt like the organisers were just trying to get as many people through the door as possible for as much money as they could while doing the very least they could get away with in terms of facilities/sound and organisation. LondonTom
They're seriously restricted by local regulations, so while it makes it unsuitable it's not entirely their fault. I've always found the organisation there pretty good, I can think of plenty who would shy away from putting down as much woodchip as they did for Hard Rock Calling. mrtourette
Yeah could be, I guess it may be written into the contract that they do stuff like that. Edited August 15, 2012 by mrtourette

VCK
Cheers for the comments on my line-up, but there's one slight error - QOTSA and Rancid on the same day. Homme and Armstrong hate each other.

VCK
Does that actually matter, though? I heard Homme and Axl Rose hate each other too, yet QOTSA were on right before GNR in 2010. Edited August 15, 2012 by VCK
GuitarManDan15
Just listening to Barenaked Ladies and I reckon they'd be a great booking. New album out soonish and never played R+L (Or at least i dont think they have). Think they'd be great in a late afternoon slot, really chilled sing-a-long band and most people know a handful of songs

jump
Entirely their fault or not I paid £65 to see a band and I could hear people talking over the top of them all the way through the gig. If you the sound restrictions are that bad then stop hosting gigs there. Yeah the woodchip was great for Hardrock calling, infact I had no problems getting beer or going to the toilet for Soundgarden, the same could not be said for Blur. Shocking. thesecretingredientiscrime
Apparently the sound restrictions were worse than normal because about a few months before the Hyde Park gigs were due to start as the council (probably under pressure from the rich & powerful who live their) put more restrictions on. There was something about in the old Hyde Park thread but Neil deleted it.
