I have to say, the one band that would sell me the ticket for next year is No Doubt.

I hated Gwens solo chavvy stuff, but there is something ultimately nostaligic about Spiderwebs and Just a Girl that would be awesome to see.

I suppose its debatable, but could No Doubt Sub with their back catalogue?

It's weird how usually every year there's at least one headliner that's blatantly obvious e.g Foos this year, Muse last year and Blink the year before

Next year though it seems less obvious, so just recapping from what others think on this thread it seems like:

Biffy seem very likely but there's the whole debate over whether they will headline

The Killers seem likely

Blur (if Olympic show wasn't their last ever)

Possibly Metallica?

I think Pearl Jam are a possibility at the moment simply from lack of alternative

Some people throwing the Prodigy in there, i personally don't see it happening

I'm thinking maybe a curve ball as well, possibly Daft Punk or maybe Slipknot? Maybe pushing Mumfords up?

Let me know if there's anything there that i've missed but at the moment i think those are all the possible bands on the table

Oh and Green Day we can all agree are ruled out

Metallica (yawn) have a new record out so I guess they're a possibility. Slipknot are also apparently releasing a new record, couldn't see them any higher than sub but I'd expect Download to nab them anyway.

The Killers seem the most obvious to me, if Blur are around then I'm sure they'd have made a play for them but I'd expect every other major festival too as well.

I think if Metallica don't do 2013 they'll definitely do 2014

And yeah i'm clutching at straws with Slipknot but i just thought there's an outside chance of them as a curveball headliner, but i guess Download aren't bothered about repeat headliners and it's been 4 years since their 09 show, and they do seem to be one of the quintessential download bands so i guess they are more likely for that one

As for Pearl Jam i just thought with the new album next year, and headlining IOW last year didn't stop Foos and Kasabian...

Killers seem more and more likely for me, the fact that they are doing arena dates this autumn suggests they are staying away from stadiums next year which R&L obviously like

If Blur shed any light on whether they will play again then i think they are a big possibility but at the moment i'm still skeptical

I dunno about Bloc, i thought they would maybe be bumped up but their new album hasn't exactly been huge

I'd love Arcade Fire to play but i think they seem more likely for other fests just because it would only be 3 years since R&L, i think they would be perfect for Glastonbury

And fair enough about Pearl Jam, maybe they are less likely than i thought

Tbh i'm just enjoying a nice intelligent discussion, i get so sick and tired of the retards that come on this forum like "OMGGG i think Linkin Park are gonna play next year" dash1.gif

I wouldn't even rule Green Day out completely, sure they're doing their own stadium gig but it's only one and it's 10 weeks before R&L. FR don't like that sort of thing but I'm sure they'd take the plunge if they wanted them badly enough. Not sure if their secret set this year makes them more or less likely though.
