Why aren't Nickelback the type of band Reading would book? They seem like they would fit alright to me.

They're a disgraceful slur on the name of rock and their attempts to fool people into thinking that's what they are by carrying guitars and growing goatees has thankfully so far been unable to fool the organisers or the vast majority of the audience that they are in any way suitable for R&L. Even in these difficult times when ticket sales are slow it's a credit to Melvin Benn and the rest of the team that such a deplorable and regrettable move as booking them to headline (becuase that's where their ridiculous egos would demand they play) hasn't been a path that they have been willing to walk down. They are a collection of talentless fuckwits and even though it isn't to be encouraged being bottled off the stage would be the only reasonable result of such a gaggle of shitheads presenting themselves to the R&L crowd.

Everyone who is saying that they have no appeal to the crowd at Reading, how do you know!? Also, I wouldnt have thought that The Cure would have much appeal with most of the current crowd. I'm not even a fan of Nickelback really tbh, but they'd make a change to the bands who are whored out at every festival year on year. I don't even know why they get the colossal amounts of stick that they do, there are worse bands out there. And like the other chap said, theyve just sold out an arena tour so they obviously arent as hated as everyone on here thinks they are.

Lady Gaga and Coldplay etc. have sold out stadiums, doesn't mean they will play are Reading.
