Pretty much, my take on it when I 1st heard about it was that I just didn't care as it sounded sloppy and tastless but as I tend small ska punk gigs very often I spoke with randoms who think it's Sublime playing which has been annoying me more than anything.

For the various example you gave like AC/DC or Audioslave it's not the same as Brad to Sublime is like Kurt to Nirvana which is the closest comparable that can be made but for all the talk of them being a new band there is a reason why they've only added 2 new songs to the set list in the last year.

I disagree with that in terms of the band dynamic but in terms of reform probably The Doors was closer to it then Queen are/were. Queen use to have all 4 members writing songs as they use to compete with each in a friendly way but with Queen Freddie was (probably) the greatest frontman of all time so he stands out more but Brain May & co still was very much the nucleus of the band aswell. Where as Sublime it was about Brad generating the music and leading the band. You will also note Queen never announced they were reforming with Adam Lambert replacing Freddie and releasing new music under the moniker.

You'd think but you're still not get what I'm saying as it's not to do with singers. Some bands have members (not solely singers) that are irreplaceable and Brad is one of them and I also find they way they conducted themselves horrible as it didn't start out as Sublime with Rome they started prefoming again as Sublime.

I understand perfectly what you're saying, I just don't agree with it. I think if you're a member of a band and someone quits/dies then you can carry on. I don't think we should judge a band or the audience of just for wanting to playing the songs they helped write, and hear those songs live.

We won't agree. and we're going in circles.

I wonder if there is any bands out there(not counting the likes of sugarbabes) who have no original members left in there group?

When you think the singer is usually the most important band member, why on earth would you go and see a band with a different singer? I can only really think of genesis that have replaced a singer and gine onto further success, or maybe sabbath.

Clearly this is some serious business for you. But I've given my reasons. If I like a band and a couple of their members decide to reconvene to play songs I like, I'd like to see it. Regardless of who else is in the band. It's not about see the band for the sake of it, it's just that i'd like to hear songs I like live by some of those who had a part in making them. I don't see your issue with this. You think it's hollow, I don't. Now can we end this?

You'll notice my replies have gotten shorter.

They are a band in their own right now. When they first got together it was about playing the songs they helped write. I've said this previously. They aren't covers. However you have twisted my words here somewhat. I was talking in general terms when I mentioned wanting to hear band play songs they wrote.

1) Nope, it was a cash grab but as you mentioned multiple times their intentions don't matter why are you making the case it's something else?

2) Big contradiction there, a "band in their own right" who got together to play another band's songs. That's a covers/tribute band.

3) You're are saying it's ok for the band to do it as long as the other band members approve but Brad specificly wished that Sublime wouldn't not happen if he was no longer a member.

4) You're are missing quoting drummer boy. He said he was talked into using the name against his will and even apoligized for doing it.
