Lineup 2014

YMAS playing above Avenged Sevenfold would be ridiculous. Unthinkable in my eyes.

Besides, think Avenged Sevenfold will headline Download next year and won't play R&L.

If they did I don't think it would be reading they'd go for, considering they were there on absolute exclusive 2010. They could get gigs at IoW, Glasto and T without much trouble if they reformed (as long as everything with Pete's legal status clears up). No reason they'd go back to Reading unless they were digging deep in their wallet

Yeah. In fact it'd be daft of R+L to shell out again with no new material.

they'll play Dload I think, headline unsure. Andy said Bullet would headline next time they play and here they are subbing, with a new album, albeit a shit album.

Rage

The Prodigy

Soundgarden

Arctic Monkeys

The Libertines

Example

Queens Of The Stone Age

Jack White

Enter Shikari

i think if they don't have Example this year, they won't next. He;'s doing 13 festivals and then Reading go and book him the year after when realistically he could probably sub T and V by that point. We are talking 17 months in advance of now. I think RATM, if Metallica don't have their new album out by then.

Exactly, Reading like getting acts the year after they've whored themselves out.

I think the Libs are hugely popular with the teenage demographic that has become increasingly important at R&L, so they could do it withhout new material. Doing IOW or even Glasto seems more likely though, I didn't think about that.

Is there anyone we could actually reasonably rule out next year?

Except this years acts and the headliners from 2012, 2011 and probably 2010.

Biffy clyro and eminem

Edit: damn got there before me

it wouldn't be glasto without iow. money needs to be involved. i'd watch it again, it's what made 2010 for me and why I should have stopped there.

i can't see example doing r&l on an exclusive next year. everywhere he could play this year, he looks to be doing and i agree with the guys who put up info that stops a r&l show this year now.

Mumford & Sons I hope. If they ever headlined I think I'd vomit everywhere.

At least your not killing yourself then.

Just thinking about potential headliners for next year - nothing concrete as you can see:

  • Pearl Jam and NIN could be two of Download's headliners
  • Prodigy wouldn't headline R+L because they'll be everywhere
  • We'd only get one of Arctic Monkeys and Mumfords because IOW and V will be gunning for both those acts too
  • RHCP will be in the studio for ages after they finish up this Summer
  • Stone Roses for Glasto, but if not then they stand a very good chance.
  • Last UK festival Radiohead headlined was R+L so probably somewhere else before returning.
  • There are probably more suitable festivals for Daft Punk to headline.
  • If Green Day aren't there this year then next year would be their third year doing Summer festivals in Europe, unlikely.
  • The Killers, similarly, would be in their fourth year of UK festivals

Before somebody gets on at me for going on about next year's already, I've already almost conceded defeat on buying a ticket this year if Green Day are the third headliner. :P

Lets go with

R&L: Rage, Arctics, QOTSA (Prodigy subbing)

V: Blur, Lady Gaga

IOW: The Prodigy, The Who, Mumford & Sons

DL: NIN, Pearl Jam, ???

Glasto: The Who, Kasabian, Rihanna

T: Arctics, Prodigy, Lady Gaga

Bestival: Daft Punk + two others who nobody can call :P

Sorted ;)

That's pretty good. Don't think The Who will be anywhere, and imagine Metallica and Stone Roses will be somewhere, suppose they could each do stadium dates instead though. As for Download, would Paramore or MCR still be welcome there?

you not think that the stone roses might actually not play next year and give it a year rest. you could comfortably get tickets to their london shows the other week, wether you can now or not, I don't know.

Ahh, I forgot about Stone Roses, yeah, they'll probably be in there. I was going to put Metallica in for Download but then I doubt they'd be that quick to repeat- will have new material though? NIN-Pearl Jam-MRC probably works pretty well.

If The Prodigy aren't going to headline R&L, nor are QOTSA, there is a major difference in the size of these acts. IOW is very possible. T Radio 1 Stage headers.

Blur for R&L.

Mumford & Sons for a V, R&L and IOW fight.

I don't think any of those will headline Glasto next year.

QOTSA are only never gonna headline R+L because you don't like them. The Prodigy are gonna be everywhere next year and R+L aren't gonna let them headline if they're headlining IOW, Other Stage at Glasto and R1/NME at T - sub perhaps. I don't know if QOTSA would come back next Summer to sub. They're playing almost every fest they can this year.
