I don't mind QOTSA but isn't anyone else a bit concerned that people are only talking about this being a hit album due to all the collaborations, rather that the band themselves just going out and making a stunning album?

Yeah, but people are obsessed with special guests and who might play with them at festivals.

I don't think that's true, or I hadn't picked up on it at least.

If they are outright collaborations I'd be disappointed, but they won't be. Just have to wait and see. It's not like it's the first album to have guest appearances; SFTD onwards there have been plenty. Jack Black even stomped and clapped on Burn the Witch. Would be great if that's what they got Elton in to do.

Not forgetting Billy Gibbons!

People couldn't see biffy headlining last year, but this year no one argues.

Queens Of The Stone Age (in my opinion) are a much more defined band than Biffy (I love biffy).

Basically I think if this album does well, they could easily headline.

It's more that the collaborations might make it a more accessible/mainstream album compared to the others, not that they'll make it a better album. I do think this could be one of their best though

Those people were silly then. Biffy had already headlined soni, had a massive album with chart toppers in only revolutions, and the new album was alot more hyped media wise. To me it was always obvious they were gonna headline reading, and I really mean that.

I don't know about you're definition of "more defined ", but they aren't as commercial as biffy, which reading kind of has to cater too. I love Qotsa too but just because Dave grohl drums with them sometimes it doesn't make them a commercial band. Just listen to era vulgaris for gawwds sakes

Am I wrong for thinking lullabies to paralyze is qotsa's best album?

It's the only one that I still listen too, although rated r and sftd, its more of a case of over playing them when they were first released.

I think there's a great eerie atmosphere in that album that no other Qotsa album has. Songs for the dead is still my fave because its just great great great rock songs, but lullabies is probably a close 2nd for those reasons

Alot of people were expecting Biffy to headline this year around this time last year but then they were announced for Download & IOW as subs so people were expecting them to take a year off from the fests and then come back to headline R&L and/or TITP.
