hence why i mentioned the curveball at the end. i just can't for the life of me think who it'd be right now

It'll be someone who seems rubbish like.

Paramore

Elbow

The black keys

30stm

FATM

Pendulum(although I doubt they'll be back)

It could also be

QOTSA

The libertines

30stm did arguably have a bigger crowd than MCR in 2011 so guess could happen... I'd be ok with it but I wish they would just play more tunes rather than getting people on stage and stuff... best time I saw them was in Bristol Academy in 08... they even played The Mission off the first album... easily their best tune.

I used to like them on record, however after seeing them live and jarred only singing around 20% of the lyrics they pissed me off so much, I can no longer listen.

Id agree but getting on stage during Kings and Queens was one of the highlights of my life :P but yeah, with a new album on the way, i think they could be a good shout

Another thing that annoys me... he was incredible in 08 but since then he has gone down hill everytime I've seen them

I hate to be the one to say it... but alot of people are guessing 3 really big headliners... and I really think theres too much wishful thinking...

Seeing how this year is Biffy, (maybe SOAD) and Eminem.

Arguably one act is alot bigger than the rest. I can't see them booking

Arctic Monkeys - The Killers - Green Day. As the three headliners

Realistically I reckon they will only book one of them.

My prediction is as follows.

New Order

Queens Of The Stone Age.

Arctic Monkeys.

Arctic Monkeys.

New Order - nowhere near big enough to headline.

Queens of the Stone Age - a weak headliner, more subheadlined size.

Arctic Monkeys - an average sized headliner.

That would be the weakest set of headliners I've ever seen for R&L.

Something like QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys and Metallica is easily feasible.

Sorry but..

MCR - Never would of been thought as a headliner

The Cure - No one would of predicted their return, or if they were capable of ever headlining r+l.

Biffy - I'm sorry, I love them, but they aren't near headliner standard at all!

Arctic Monkeys - Will pull so many tickets, they will be a sunday headliner.

Metallica - Too much wishful thinking mate.

Queens Of the Stone age - A weak headliner? they are only just being bumped up to headliner status we should see what they can do!

New Order - from bestivals set, yes they bloody could headline reading and leeds! Plus reading always has one old time headliner.

New Order are nowhere near having the popularity at R&L as MCR & Biffy do, and they're nowhere near the size of The Cure, or have the popularity of them.

I love New Order, and fingers crossed will be seeing them at Glastonbury or somewhere, but I'd be shocked if they headlined NME at R&L, let alone mainstage.

MCR were actually believed to be a 2010 headliner at one point so definitely were considered big enough.

The Cure are easily headline size, hence the headlining sets all over Europe. Yes it was unpredictable, but they're a damn site bigger than New Order.

Biffy are headlining standard, hence why they are headlining.

Arctic Monkeys will pull an average number of day tickets. They headlined the Saturday last time. They're no more popular now. They're more comparable to Kasabian than any other recent headliner, and they played the Saturday.

Why is Metallica wishful thinking? No other fest they could realistically play, new album out, biggest rock band available most likely.

I didn't mean QOTSA would be weak performance-wise, I think they'd be great. But as you said, just being bumped up, they'd be a small headliner.

New Order, as has been said, are nowhere near big enough.

Pretty much spot on with this I reckon

I was soooo looking forward to them at Leeds '10, but was unbelievably let down when Leto decided to give up lead singer duty and leave it to the crowd :/ I'll be seeing them at Download this year all the same, but I would like to see a bit more effort put in to singing the songs the fans are there to see, despite their Illuminati bullshit :L

I love 30stm but there newest album mostly sucks balls. I like the crowed interaction so i'd be happy to see them headline if they played a lot of there older stuff. Not playing From Yesterday in 2011 was a shit move.

Init! (Risk of sounding 'chavy', I can asaure you while heartidly that I'm not :P I was so disappointed that they didn't play From Yesterday in '11: even if they did play Attack...

Yeah, Arcitc Monkeys are no 'surprise' headliner or anything, but they'd definitely be a solid book.

The Cure were easily headline size, much much bigger than New Order, stop chatting shit. :P

Metallica are nailed on because they play every 5 years. :ninja:

I didnt say massive, i said solid, they've been headlining festivals since there second album.

Yeah, they headline Glasto a month after their 2nd album came out.

There's a story (which I don't know if it's true or not) that one of the Eavis had both Arctic Monkees& Kaiser Chiefs booked that year but couldn't decide which one to headline and the other to sub to The Who so they flipped a coin and Artics won and got to headlined whilst Kaises subbed.
