Looked up capacity number of big festivals in the UK (and the ones that get mentioned most), just as a comparison, and to predict line-ups better in the future...also included headliners for shit and giggles:

Glastonbury: 177,000 (2013) (Artic Monkeys, Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons)

Download: 120,000 (2013) (Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein)
V: 90,000 (2013) (Beyonce and Kings Of Leon headlining)
Reading: 87,000 (2013) (Green Day, Eminem, Biffy Clyro)

Isle Of Wight: 60,000 (2013) (The Stone Roses, The Killers, Bon Jovi)

Download isn't 120,000 every year, pretty sure that was only in 2010. Usually it's about 85,000 I think. Also, you didn't include Leeds or the other V festival site.

As I said the reason it was expanded from 85,000 was to cater for AC/DC (plus the other two headliners that year were huge). Perhaps it never reverted back but I doubt 2011's line up or this years will be shifting 111,000 tickets.
