If the Friday NME got swapped with the Saturday NME it would be decent for me.

Although I don't see Imagine Dragons retaining this hype to headline NME next year, Bastille might though. Think Bastille are pretty decent, I don't see the deal about Imagine Dragons though, very bland imo.

Edit: although Alt-J are pretty bland, and that's coming from a fan..

Oh and their support bands! The first were called Baby Godzilla? Or something like that. They were bloody awesome, reminded me a lot of Pulled Apart By Horses, bit with even more energy. And Hactivist, who I thought were shocking on YouTube, were pleasantly enjoyable live. They did a wicked cover of N*ggas In Paris.

Baby Godzilla <3 for the curious:

Just got back from seeing Enter Shikari. They were brilliant. I think that if they were to leave it another year and return in 2015 with a new album, they could sub. They will never, ever headline imo, but as a sub after a 3 year break, they would be a good booking.

No they really couldn't, shouldn't & wouldn't sub.

Missed it because my friend wouldn't get his arse in gear to sort out train tickets with me earlier, and i didn't want to spend like £40 on a there and then return :(

I think you underestimate them, they are headlining 2nd stage at DL and they are much more popular at R/L so another strong album and a sub is not unreasonable at all

They are not even close to being as big as the subs from the past 3 years... System, Chase & Status, NIN, Florence, Paramore, Black Keys, Elbow, 30STM...

It'll take a pretty big album to push them up. They'll play 3rd from the top or headline the NME stage.

Headlining NME seems the most reasonable to me aswell all i'm saying is dont be surprised if they end up subbing

Band with a lead singer just out of rehab, on the back of three albums even core fans agree are shite

"Biggest rapper" who hasn't been good for over a decade, and mimes in live performances

Push up for yet another stadium rock band. I know they're liked on here, but they are borderline headliners so not a particularly strong booking, objectively speaking

Not seeing the strength really

Green Day and Eminem are two of the biggest acts of the past decade, full stop.

Biffy Clyro are one of the biggest bands in the country right now.

Not seeing the weakness myself.

Couldn't disagree more with this statement- I like a few of Bastille's songs, but they are bland in their own way- all samey, catchy little tunes. I think Imagine Dragons have a lot more depth, variety and boldness. Or maybe I'm just hurling random superlatives at them.

Idk maybe I should have another listen to them, didn't like Bastille or Palma Violets first listen through but they've grown on me now. Never gave ID much of a chance, other than that radioactive, which I do genuinely think is rubbish :P

I'm just hoping they do the impossible and book daft punk on an exclusive.

Loving the new single, reminds me of off the wall era Jacko. Which for me personally is what pop/dance music should be.

Glastonbury, Bestival, Wireless, Hyde Park, T in the Park &/or V Festival are all much more likely than R&L to get Daft Punk if/when they finally do tour. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the only major festival less likely to get them than R&L would be Download.

Hence why I called it "the impossible" ;)
