Oh right, I just thought that song looked pretty good, I've watched some other videos and they really don't seem that bad. I actually missed them and saw We Are Scientists instead (who were fucking good) so I'm pretty happy they are there. I also think that Paramore into The Cure is a good choice, The Cure are a fucking massive emo band, a fucking proper emo band.

That's a silly argument and you know it is. Paramore play pop-punk music, a genre embedded in the current reading and Leeds hegemony. One Direction are a boy band. So Paramore are genre appropriate and,as I previously demonstrated, they are popular enough to play the slot they are playing.

Don't like them but have no real problem with Paramore sub headlining The Cure - they're huge and they'll be an exclusive. Its the rest of that day that ruins it. You've got Bombay Bicycle Club playing at least one slot too high and then loads of bands that look as though they were booked as the undercard to Give It A Name festival - I can't justify spending £100+ on a day ticket and transport just to see The Cure.

Definitely not worse than 2011's Friday. The under card yes, but at the end of the day you'd get the cure over MCR (remember its the motherfuckin' cure!!!!)

And at least the maccabees are a credible band in their own right rather than beady eye (no idea why they continue to make music)

It is a really weird day. I was sure it'd be Florence before the Cure. The lineup in general all day jumps all over the place. I've always given FR props for their ability to keep days usually pretty "themed" for the most part. Last years Saturday at Leeds, every day of the fest in 2010 made sense to me.

There's definitely room for more on every day. I can't see what would save the Cure day from looking like a completely obscure day. As someone mentioned they probably hope the Cure sell enough day tickets to justify booking acts like Angels and Airwaves that day. The only day that sort of makes sense is the Foo Fighters day. I have no idea why you would book Tenacious D on the Kasabian day when you've got the Foos playing the same festival (on the same day as Eagles of Death Metal too). Mind boggling.

Also people moaning about last years MCR day, I was close to the front the whole day and met tonnes and tonnes of people who were there as day trippers just to see MCR, some to see 30STM then buggered off, some to see Offspring. So really they probably achieved what they wanted with that day. I thought in terms of a list of bands that just read perfectly sensibly together in one day it was one of the best I've seen at ANY festival. (Kerrang type readers for the most part.)

What? You're sounding like Annie Mac now as she said they were 'so emo' after announcing them on Radio 1. She also said they reformed two years ago. :sarcastic:

The Cure have got nothing to do with being an emo band. If you mean that people may get upset/emotional when listening to them then most bands are emo bands and Morrissey is the fucking emo-king.

Again, The Cure are not emo, what ever the fuck emo actually is anymore but they have nothing to do with the style that was popular 4-5 years ago apart from possibly being a bit of an influence.

As a massive Cure fan I bought my ticket for that day straight away on Monday evening but have been somewhat disappointed by the rest of the line up- Bombay Bicycle Club, Crystal Castles and Foster the People aside. That said there's some names I don't know so may have to pop off to spotify/you tube for a bit of research.
