bloc party,

justice,

LCD soundsystem- when they reform,

The liberteens (when they get they're act together AGAIN),

biffy clyro

elbow

Enter Shikari could possible headline. if they took a fucking break and released a schweet album like the last one

Frank turner- his popularity seems to increase each year, a while off but he'll get a very comfy spot in NME next year if not headling it or lock up. (or he might do his side prodject in the lock up this year or next if he gets it together)

Queens of the stoneage- if they release a schweet new album they could finally get where they belong

Vampire weekend

Dizze rascal???

Lostprophets- if the next album is good. then they break up. wait for 5years then reform they'll headline again long way off...

mumford and sons (i'm putting them down for next year tbh with they're demand and album sales- plus the lack of them this year. PROVIDING the next album is a hit)

Atually why i'm at it i recon next year will be Biffy/blur, Metallica, Mumford

one day son we can all get over busted and fightstar could be a headliner.

This thread highlights the absolute capitulation of Indie/Rock music in recent years. All the upcoming bands are pretty bland and will never have the hype around them akin to the likes of Foo Fighters etc. I think it's reasonable to attribute this to the declining of Leeds lineup over the past few years. IIRC the lineup of 2002 and 2005 were pretty amazing and even ones between that were solid; but this came at the time where indie/rock was flavour of the month. The rise of dubstep and over produced pop is going to see Leeds decline in terms of band quality and of course, the actual demographics of the crowd. Festivals are reaching unsustainable levels of saturation with more 'major' festivals now than ever, and with prices increasing (and the price not always reflecting the quality of bands on offer, see 2010) and for these reasons they're becoming less popular as the boom they experienced a few years ago. Things are going to get progressively worse over all fronts until some reasonably large festivals start to go pop, ie. latitude and bestival.

I think Arctic Monkeys are probably the last of the big indie/rock bands for quite a while.
