To be fair I think if they were in the position to announce something like that right now they possibly would - although at the same time, if they don't have 3 headliners down, and announce 1 right now, months of just having 1 headliner announced could seem damaging too, people would think they might be struggling to get bands again. Where as having nobody announced, whilst not great, it's still ages till the usual announcing time for festivals so people won't think it's too out of the blue. I think they'd need at least 2 headliners and a few undercard before the start announcing stuff.

I would have thought (assuming it went ahead) the venue would remain in Knebworth. The owners of Knebworth house are really keen to have it back seeing as they are relying pretty heavily on it. And I would have thought they probably had some sort of license to hold the even there as well - which was probably granted to cover a number of years? The venue is one of the best selling points for the festival, so it'd be silly to change it imo. Close to the capital and size wise it's ideal, no long walks between campsite and arena etc..!

This ^^

Out of everything, that part is probably the most certain of anything.

I think they'll be fine without one of those bands as long as the lineup is good.

People are fickle and for every person that's loyal to Download festival i'm sure there are 2 more who will just go to which ever festival has the best line up for their money so by your logic Andy better have AC/DC or Maiden waiting in the wings eh? ; )

Please stop with the hate campaign against Sonisphere, it got tired last year.

1) The brand hasn't been damaged beyond repair.

2) Sonisphere is still going, they have 5 events this year.

3) Kililive own or part own other festivals such as Wakestock, Rockness, Bloodstock and are promoting the UK edition of Warped Tour, so there aren't supposed "troubles" in their camp.

4) Why would they cut off ties with Knebworth House? the owners love Sonisphere, they make a killing from the event and it's an established rock venue, which is far greater than Castle Donington.

5) Kili have a 5 year license to hold Sonisphere at Knebworth House.

6) Why would they change the name of an established brand, when it is still going.

7) They've already started booking bands for next year and it's full steam ahead, try reading the interviews instead of making things up.

8. It's looking increasingly likely that Maiden are headlining next year.

I suppose a big headliner like Maiden or AC/DC etc must know that their name will go a fair way to making a festival a success - would they see Soni as a true risk if they were one the bill with another decent headliner? (Though I suppose Queen et al may have thought the same - though not tried and tested in the festival market).

Similarly, bands on the undercard would be more likely to trust Soni with a big headliner.

Granted DL has the better name and can probably get away with a less popular band at the top of the bill for the odd year. Whereas Soni NEED that big band or two next year, otherwise it'll be a repeat of 2012.
