I do have Undertow somewhere but never really given it enough time. i will stick it on the phone this weekend and give it some hammer over the next week or so.

Is that directed at me? I just said they'd be a safe booking to ensure it came back - dont think I ever said they'd definitely play? Probably better in the long run if they can come back without Maiden though as tgen you wont have people whinging "Oh the festival only sells with Maiden/Metallica"

Undertow is a solid album best tracks for me from that album are probably the first 4 Sober, Prison Sex & Intolerance & Bottom.

But in my opinion their finest albums are Lateralus & Aenima.

Aenima's my fav. Undertow opens better but has a couple of average tracks in the middle. All 4 albums are seriously good though,

Lateralus for me but it's close. All 4!? Don't forget Opiate more of a demo but has some good point mainly in the form of Hush.

I haven't got Opiate yet. I tend to be a bit wary about buying demo/b-side stuff as I've encountered some very average ones.

I'm off to download more tool now. I have to admit, I have a mixed play list and Vicarious is track 1 and a really good opening track. The drumming is incredible.

I would just get their entire back catalogue

But if you want to cut it down a bit I'd say don't bother getting the ambient 'fillery' tracks.

I think we have brought up the names of all their albums except 10,000 days which is their latest (I have hard copies of all their albums and the packaging for 10,000 days is pretty cool).

And lastly there is Salival a live special edition with some bonus material it has a cover of Led Zeps - No Quater and its maybe my favourite cover of all time but its very long a progressive so it may take some patience to get in to it.

Also worth a mention is a 'hidden' track from Salival called 'Maynards Dick'

Was sonisphere France cancelled last year? If it wasnt then it doesnt really have much relevance to the UK one.

They generally share acts between UK and France and run them simultaneously on the same weekend so actually theres plenty relevance!

Aye Evanescence didnt even play in the end and wind wrecked one of the stages and stuff, it really didnt go well

I think the point was that France went ahead last year and UK didn't, so just because France is happening next year doesn't necessarily mean that the UK one is.

Possibly but it was almost canned and downgraded and they had to refund people if anything it probably had more issues than the UK version and we know theyre working on a UK version, so if (as they have always done) share bands its very likely france coming along means similar for the UK

Vince Power was working on and announced that he would be holding the Pheonix festival this year...and it all ended in tears!

I'll keep my fingers cross for some kind of announcement soon but lets not get ahead of ourselves. If anything I'd say the fact that they've announced Soni France and NOT announced Soni UK is actually a bad sign rather then a good one... but we'll see.

Vince Power was trying to bring back a dead and buried festival which hasn't existed for years, which has barely any support from the general public, whilst also trying to get Hop Farm off the ground, hardly the same situation is it. He also didn't announce it either, he hinted that he might revive it, but nothing was definite.

Looks like the Soni UK forums are changing, must be a sign.
