Right....got to try and not sound like a KISS fan boy now.

You seem to be cherry picking the facts to consider here Gazza, despite there only being 12k tickets sold (still not sure where this came from anyway) Queen went on to sell out 3 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo (about 15k tickets) Faith No More sold out Brixton and the apollo (about 10k tickets) and then KISS did a charity gig at the forum (a tiny 2k venue could have done bigger though).

No one is arguing that the festival didn't sell well but I'd say that most would consider it being down to the combination of headliners together/the fact that maybe there wasn't enough Queen fans who would go to a rock festival, the fact that there were sod all bands playing on the Friday and not due to the appeal of the individual bands themselves.

KISS may not be the draw that they used to be but combined with the right other headliners they'd make a great addition to a festival line up. Also I think you underestimate their fan base, they have lots of older fans who will always come and see their shows, when they last toured here in 2010 they played 9 arena shows in total, true they didn't quite sell out their second London date but I'm curious to know why you think they've had their day? Is it purely based on Sonisphere? Have all the other bands booked for Sonisphere last year also had their day?

handbags at dawn!

No but really Kiss arent all that terrible...nor arecFaith No more who I think you can argue are only "an academy band " cause theyve chose to play those venues - in the same way you could argue machine head are "an arena band" but we all know how that turned out :P Anyways, point is Kiss could work alongside a bigger draw or two fine but as the main draw or alongside a bad choice + a more 'niche' choice like FNM itd be a disaster. Guess we'll see, I cant rule em out but wouldnt be my top choice and I still think the less to remind people of 2012...the better

Another point to consider is that Kiss charge a fortune for tickets to their own gigs, so a festival might be the only chance some people get to see them! I loved Download 2008 (although I wish Offspring had made a little more effort!).

Queen and the rest of the Saturday lineup were the weak links in Sonisphere last year. Kiss might not have the appeal that they deserve any more, but Kiss, Pearl Jam and another decent headliner would sell tickets.

Did you see what they said on that link on the previous page, they said UK was going ahead and someone said I thought UK soni was dead, and Soni replied we prefere the term Undead.

Loving it, good spin on it, and zombies are very in right now what with the success of The Walking Dead, matches with that logo too, I can imagine the marketing risen from the grave, Sonisphere 2013! with that all being said and Kili running their tour, anyone reckon they'll book Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson as a co headliner on the Friday night [or whatever is the smaller night?]

To add fuel to that they retweeted a tweet from one of the top guys at XFM radio stating he had heard rumours it was making a comeback, which also confirms it to be true in a sense. Can see them continuing with more subtle hints till they're 100% ready then announcing and announcing with a big bang, rather than trying too hard to hype it up properly with constant facebook posts in the meantime. Theres enough time at the moment if they plan on announcing properly soon to do that, obviously it'd be a bad tactic if they end up being delayed till end of feb again. But as I said with them knowing for sure what countries are happening it's a good sign, we didn't even really have anything like that last year at this point in time.

I think it's possible, definitely think that they'll be relying on a lot of bands that they've got good ties with and do tours with who are less likely to be put off by this years cancellation. Manson is a good bet in that sense, he did a rescheduled date with Kili in July, and this upcoming tour too, so clearly has no qualms with them over the cancellation. Could be a good warm up Friday similar to that in 2010 with Alice Cooper, especially if the Twins of Evil tour goes down well and Manson wins back lost fans from past tours. Obviously they'd need 2 other solid headliners though as arguably with them touring now some draw would be lost.
