in NME last week Robert Smith said that he didn't at Bestival as it was the first Cure gig in a while and he didn't want to come out and not be on form, and ruin their set. He pretty much confirmed he'd be joining them for Reading.... at it'll be awesome.

I will be majorly jealous if it does happen, although given that if I attended I'd be at Leeds & it's only likely to happen at Reading anyway, I guess I'd have missed it even if I did get a ticket.

Well Jarvis only performed with the Strokes at Reading & they where both at Leeds... most collaborations only happen at Reading.

Surely if the frontman of the headliner comes on stage half way through the day it kind of ruins the excitement of seeing the headliner?

I remember people saying Josh Klinghoffer was going to perform a song with the support act at the RCHP gig I went to last year. And I remember not wanting it happen for the reasons I mentioned above (Alas, it didn't happen).

I think that was because Pulp were before The Strokes at Reading so it was more of a hype if he didn't do it at Leeds

Face it, most of the "guest" appearances or collaborations only happen at Reading, mainly because of the TV coverage I would suspect.

The song was a cover in The Strokes setlist, not Pulps and to be honest at Leeds, dunno about Reading, after The Strokes performance, Pulp din't need any interuptions from Julian that night, one clear headline winner. I guess also, Leeds gets Thursday night

No it wasn't just in their setlist, they didn't play the song at Leeds without Jarvis, it was an agreed collaboration of a cover of a Cars song between the two of them, which they could have easily done again at Leeds had they wanted to.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to argue or who you're trying to convince? It's blatantly obvious that the vast majority of guests/collaborations happen at Reading, face facts, get over it, move on. Of course Robert Smith could do both, or he could do neither, so at this point there is very little to say other than that.
